Dreams

Summary:

Trash beasts are everywhere, and unfortunately for you, one just so happened to spawn right under your feet. A gasp rips from your throat as you jump off the rising creature. A screech sounds out from behind you. You let out a laugh, or maybe a sob. You were so screwed.

Or,

You find yourself in the world of Gachiakuta. Unfortunately it's gonna take you a while to learn the damn language. But fortunately, the moments you spend the others are enough to make up for it. And you might just try to shoot your shot with your favorite characters along the way.

Notes:

Helloo!! I kinda came up with this idea on a whim. But now I absolutely love it.

Also a little context because I'm not sure if I'll actually end up mentioning it. You're like 16 in this, one year younger than Zanka. One year older than Rudo, and two years younger than Jabber. Of course you can switch it up if you'd like. I just figured 16 was the perfect in-between age story wise.

Chapter Text

You, being the reasonable person you are, had never expected to end up in this situation.

Despite your various hyper fixations and how obsessive you could be with them, you had no trouble seemlessly mixing your favorite fictional worlds and the real one with no threads attached.

Which is why now, you're awfully curious on why reality and fiction is currently blending together right in front of your very eyes.

You stood in a pile of trash, dirty and unkempt in a way that made your nose crinkle in disgust. You wore the same clothes you were wearing before you went to bed, a basic hoodie and some sweatpants, but you were no longer in your room. And no matter how much you tried to convince yourself, this wasn't a dream.

Not too recently, you'd gotten into this amazing series called Gachiakuta. It was an awesome story with awesome characters. You'd even tried to create your own self insert, to see what you would look like in such an interesting world. To no avail however, you looked the same as ever.

It's been about an hour since you woke up, and thankfully this wasn't any kind of no man's land or else you'd be dead already without any kind of mask. But the longer you wander, the thicker the air becomes. You need to find someone, you think desperately. You had no clue what you were doing in this world, and as you quickly began to realize how unfamiliar everything is, the more your heart begins to race.

It's emotion that you've never truly felt before. Frustration, confusion and dread all wrapped into one. Breathing gets harder and harder, is this a panic attack? You almost hope it is. Because if you pass out from it, you're more likely to wake back up in your bed and forget about all this.

Unfortunately, your thoughts aren't allowed to simmer any more.

There's a shaking beneath your feet, rustling the busted TV's and the cracked mirrors around you. Right. One thing you may have also forgotten about.

Trash beasts are everywhere, and unfortunately for you, one just so happened to spawn right under your feet. A gasp rips from your throat as you jump off the rising creature. A screech sounds out from behind you. You let out a laugh, or maybe a sob. You were so screwed.

"....Enjin." A voice sounds out from nearby. It's feminine, and has a distinct kind of accent to it. But for the life of you, you can't seem to make out any kind of words besides the familiar name placed dead last in the woman's sentence.

Wait, Enjin?

You shot up, rustling the covers that had been thrown over you. When and how did you get a bed? Your vision takes in the scene around you.

As much as you wished to laugh, your jaw remained tightly shut as you stared down the few people in the room. Right, because that's what they were now. People. No longer fictional characters. Their world had become yours. Man, you could get used to this.

Enjin, Semiu, Gris, and Corvus all stared in your direction.

"Uhm. Hi?" You mumble after a moment of silence. There's a look shared between them, which makes you huff. What could they possibly be thinking that you weren't?

Corvus spoke, finally turning back to look at you. The same knowing gaze as ever. "Could you say something for us again? As a simple test." You were obviously confused at first as to why, before it dawned on you.

You were in a completely new world, filled with completely different kinds of people. Not to mention, from watching the anime and reading the manga, you'd noticed that the writing was entirely different from yours as well. Of course, the language had to be different too.

"You don't understand me." You said simply. This was going to be terrible. A language barrier of all things to separate you from speaking to some of your favorite characters. And it's not like there was any kind of Google translate to use either or someone here who spoke your language. In terms of communication, you were completely alone in this world. Then again, you suppose, this will definitely prevent you from embarrassing yourself from saying anything stupid while you're still processing the change.

There was an understanding nod that came from Corvus and a sigh from Semiu. They spoke amongst each other, but you couldn't help but tune them out. Uhh, hold on a second. How did you even survive that trash beast? You assumed they found you and brought you back. But you were in the middle of butt-fuck nowhere. Were they really not too far from you by the time you passed out? You look up as a paper is suddenly handed to you.

You're confused and they can tell. Corvus hands you a pen, now sitting next to your bed. Ah, so they want you to write something down. Well, it won't be much help, but you'll give it a shot.

This is kinda pointless.

You write down, handing it back to him. He stares at it for a long time before letting out a chuckle. He writes something back and hands it to you. It's familiar, something you've seen many times but never really paid attention to. Maybe you should've taken the time to learn the alphabet from all those Reddit posts you would always see. None the less, the fact that the letters are familiar does help. And some of them even resemble your own. Huh.. if you look at it like this..

It is, isn't it?

While you could be completely and utterly wrong, those are the words that stare back at you. You're honestly kinda proud of yourself. You turn back to corvus with a giggle, too giddy to contain it.

"It is, isn't it?" You repeat his own words back to him. A tell-tale way of showing that you decoded his message. Corvus smiles back.

"Good. We're making progress." He says. "Anything groundbreaking? Both of you took an awful long time to read what you two wrote on that damn paper." Semiu quips. From next to her, Enjin nods, looking like he could really use a cigarette right now. Poor dude probably wants to be anywhere but here right now.

Corvus stands, dusting off his jacket. "Well, it might take some time. But I think now there's definitely a chance she could actually learn our language. Thankfully, in terms of penmanship, hers isn't too different from ours."

"Well, that's good. Hopefully she'll be able to tell us where she's from at some point." Gris scratches at the back of his head, a relieved smile sliding into place.

"Soo.. does that mean we're gonna keep 'er?" Enjin grumbles. His gaze catches yours. You don't wanna be a pussy, so you stare at him until he looks away. Heh, you feel like you won that little exchange.

"Well, it seems we're always taking in strays, aren't we? Especially teens nowadays. Plus, the fact that she speaks another language.. interests me." Corvus pauses, a dark look in the man's eyes. Jeez, even to you before, with all your knowledge of what happens in this world, Corvus will always stay a mystery. "Gris," He turns to the other man. "Could you go ahead and set up a room for her?

Gris nods, and sets out to leave, before lowering his hat to you, bidding you a farewell. Man, Gris was so nice. You nod back at him with a pleased smile on your face. "Me and Enjin will go and report back to the others, then. Sure they're all still curious about the 'unconcious girl'." She finger quotes. You're awfully sure that that's what you've been dubbed by the rest of the cleaners based on how she said that.

With that, Enjin and Semiu leave. Leaving you with just Corvus as your only company. You swear the air turns icy cold the moment the door closes. He turns to you with the same friendly smile as before.

"Let's get started then, shall we?"

Notes:

A little fun fact. Originally I was gonna make the language barrier go both ways. Meaning you weren't going to understand absolutely anything the characters say. Because that's usually how language barriers work. But I realized I was going to die from boredom if I wasn't able to add any dialogue from the other characters. So I changed it.
