Chapter Text
Digger huffed, annoyed as all fuck. The fucking TV asshole had brought his shark thing. Again. And it was flying all over, getting in the way. Again.
Why the fuck hasn’t Carmilla forbidden the asshat from bringing that fucking thing yet?! So what that he leaves it outside during the meetings? It’s as big as a fucking house, there’s no fucking way he was just out walking the damn thing before the meeting, no matter what he says! Asshole’s just shoving the bitch in all their faces, showing off the monster he had his scientists make for him.
And what was most annoying was how the thing always sat itself right in the middle of the street, blocking the entrance!
Digger scoffed and marched over, gathering his energy around his fist. He wasn’t going to wait any longer, especially not for a fucking fish to get out of the way.
“Move!” he snarled, slamming his energized fist into one of the massive front fins.
The behemoth of a shark flinched back with a whine, an actual fucking whine, curling away from him.
Digger blinked in surprise at the reaction, then his lips spread in a vicious grin. “Hah! Yeah, showed you, you bitch! You’re nothing but a mutt needing to be put in its place!”
The victorious grin on his face froze when all the lights in the vicinity started flickering. The street lamps, the lights in the windows, as far off as he could see down all the streets he looked, everything was flickering.
Digger blinked and became aware of a sound like the buzzing of machinery behind him. When he turned, it was to the sight of Vox, standing stock still a few feet from him, staring at him with eyes so wide they took over nearly his entire screen.
“Did you just hit my shark?” he asked, voice small and lacking inflection.
The lights started going off. From far away first, both the windows and the street lamps started going dark, one after another, as if something was coming towards them. In contrast, Vox’s screen grew brighter, flashing streams of current and bolts of lightning appearing around his body.
Vox’s feet left the ground as he rose upwards, the lights of the street extinguishing faster. “Did you just hit my shark?” he repeated, his voice warbling and crackling, thundering and booming. His eyes were the only thing visible within the crackling bright inferno surrounding him, two bright red crimson spots in a blinding storm.
Behind Digger, Shok.Wav landed on the street and whimpered again, one fin curled close against his body.
The entirety of Pentagram City went dark, but not because of a blackout. All of its electricity rushed away from the wires and outlets, called back into Vox, making him glow so bright he appeared like a supernova. It made it near impossible for all the other overlords to look at him, but Digger could not look away even as his eyes bled from the strain.
“DID YOU JUST HIT MY FUCKING SHARK?!” Digger more felt the words then heard them, the vibrations of each syllable so strong the ground shook beneath his feet.
Digger didn’t even get a chance to respond. He was struck with all that gathered energy – it exploded around him and within him, burning him so intensely he wasn’t even aware of the agony it caused.
The energy scorched everything it touched. The blast sent winds so fast they cut like knives rushing down all the streets, leaving deep grooved in the sides of the buildings and surface of streets. Anything left outside was carried away, burnt, melted or crushed as it was slammed into something too heavy to be carried away. All of the city shook. The two buildings nearest the epicenter collapsed but the debris was burnt away before any of it even touched the ground. Sinners foolish enough not to have sought cover only had themselves to blame.
And Digger? There wasn’t anything left of him. Not even a single spec of blood to be carried away by the wind.
Vox panted like a rabid animal, the lights still somehow swirling around him. The other overlords stared, cowering and shielding themselves in whatever ways they could in case Vox decided to continue his rampage.
But then Shok.Wav whimpered again, lifting one paw and motioning with it plaintively towards Vox.
Immediately the crackling electricity from around Vox dispersed, and he dropped down to the street, as lightly as if he was hopping down a single step. “Shoky!” He rushed to his shark and the lights returned to the street lamps and the rest of Pentagram City. “Daddy’s here, show Daddy where that mean asshole hurt you!”
Once again, the massive behemoth of a shark lifted the single fin.
Vox gasped. “My poor baby!” He pressed against his shark’s side, nuzzling his face against it. “It’s okay, Daddy’s gotchu! I’ll get you home so we can heal you up right quick!” Then he lifted that fucking beast of a thing into his arms. Scooped it up as if it was a normal sized dog. Vox then turned into electricity and teleported them both away.
The overlords blinked, staring at the spot where they’d just been.
Zeezi was the first to speak. “Dibs on the idiot’s territory.”
Prick continued to stare. “Did I just see Vox lift that fucking thing? With fucking ease?” he demanded, his tone as choked up as his throat currently felt.
Hatchet just shook his head and turned to go inside, as did a few other overlords.
Prick bristled. “Fuck you all, somebody answer me! Did I fucking hallucinate that or not?!”
Zestial stepped closer to him. “You hath not.”
Prick flinched and craned his head upwards in exasperation. “Fucking hell, Zestial. Why the fuck would you answer truthfully??”
“Was truth not what you sought?”
“No! Fucking lie to me next time, man!” Prick slipped his hat off, one hand flat on his head. “How the fuck does Alastor fight that on the regular?”
“I believe they enjoy it.”
Prick shuddered and yanked his hat back on. “Fuck this, I need enough booze to erase this entire day from my memory.”
That got a response from everybody. “Agreed.”
