Harry Potter is the loneliest boy in his neighborhood. He does not actively think this, but he feels this deep in his chest more and more, as the years pass by.
His friends, while he loves them so very much, do not and could not fully understand his cutting feelings of displacement he has felt ever since his parents passed away. His days are filled with so much gray that it has been chipping away at his barely present resolve to live, though the gray is to be expected. Hermione and Ron would not understand, they have each other ever since they were 11 years old. Their worlds, despite how bleak and gloomy the future seems, are filled with rich and vibrant colors that Harry does not understand, no matter how much those around him try to explain. And at age 18, with all the weight of the world on his shoulders growing heavier and his patience thinner by the year, Harry is at the edge and is willing to do anything; even break a few rules. How can he continue on when the faith of all wizard-kind rests on his shoulders? How can he possibly want to overcome pressure that he cannot run from?
He reflects on all of this, as he gathers his jacket, tucks his wand inside its sleeve, and heads out the door. He walks with determination in every step towards the closest park with the most trees. It is dark and chilly. Around this time of night, no one should see him breaking school rules to perform magic in the muggle world.
Harry Potter is the loneliest boy. So much so, that he is breaking all the magical laws to perform one of the most complex rituals to try to feel even a little less lonely and disconnected. He is about to perform the ritual that will supposedly, "summon what the caster most needs". He may go to wizard jail for this. He may even get kicked off his quidditch team, that he enjoys being a part of so very much, for this! But if it means he can somehow fill that gap, feel that deep connection of understanding that he has been missing for so very long ever since his parents died, then he is willing to sacrifice it all.
Harry whispers a spell to draw in the grass, a magical summoning circle. He feels his palms sweaty as he draws. While he does not think anything he can possibly summon could be dangerous, there is still that possibility of "what ifs" that nags in the back of his head.
Is he doing the right thing? He is not sure. But he knows that if he does not do something now, he will just go mad!
Harry finishes the circle and starts the chanting he has memorized the month prior. The circle starts glowing white and Harry thinks, "this is it!". Harry continues his chant and a loud chime echoes out. The light blinds him for a second. Harry barely had time to cover his eyes, when he hears a, "You." from an enchanting voice he has never heard. He lowers his arm slowly to see his ritual was a success, there is something inside!
His eyes slowly go up from long human legs to a lean torso that is wrapped in shimmery mid-gray cloak. His eyes look further up and are immediately trapped by gorgeous ruby eyes. Harry's eyes widen with the handsome stranger's and his world bleeds out color from the deep red eyes. Blues, greens, and browns start spreading and Harry can feel his face blossoming in heat.
"Oh", Harry thinks, "It seems the thing I needed most was my soulmate".
