Summary
Jiung had thought the battle was over; he had won. He got the diamond girl and brought her home to his mother, did everything expected of the eldest son, and now he gets to live the rest of his days worrying over his potatoes. But when her heart turns cold, and the rot begins to creep in, Jiung worries the battle was never his to win.
"His first heartbreaks were soothed by creamy and peppery potato soups, and his brother’s birth was celebrated by mountains of mash and gravy. The kingdom’s villagers had even carved potatoes on his wedding day to commemorate the new princess.
He distantly wonders what meal his mother will make for the destruction of his marriage."
