Sweet, Brooklyn Boy

Summary:

Fair warning, Tony's already gone in this one... Have fun with that. But it is fluff, I promise.

Work Text:

You and Peter had just started to get used to each other as partners, now that everything had started to calm down after the world forgot him. He'd spent late nights with you before you started dating telling you stories about life before everything turned sour. Now you were talking about finding an apartment together for a chance at a normal life.

After about a week of applying for apartments and not managing to get any of them, Peter swung in through your living room window with a lease in hand. You were just trying to get through an assignment for work when he startled you by landing surprisingly gracefully on the couch next to you and pulled his mask off.

"What's this?"you asked as he handed the envelope over to you.

"I reapplied for that apartment you loved in Manhattan. Turns out their other buyer fell through."

You gently opened the envelope. "You… You actually got us that apartment. You said the rent might be too much."

Peter shrugged. "My name is still in Tony's will. I wasn't sure how to tell you about it."

"You are in Iron Man's will? What the hell, Peter?"you weren't upset, but your voice did get a bit louder from shock.

Your boyfriend gently rubbed the back of your shoulder with one hand. "I know. He would have adopted me if he had time to. He always said that. So instead he left me a fortune to make sure I wouldn't have to worry about anything ever again."

"Thank you."

"I haven't seen you much more thrilled about any other place than that one."

"Did you see that view? Of course I was thrilled about it."

"If you'd let me take you through the city I could show you some other beautiful ones. I've been all over the world, you know."

You laughed softly. "This world and others from what you've told me."

"Exactly."

"Maybe one of these days. Heights still give me a bit of the heebie jeebies though."

"I know."

"Peter, this is amazing. Thank you."

"Thank Tony. That was what he wanted. To find someone who made me happy and to find some place that would give me a chance to have a normal life."

"Well I can't exactly thank him."

Peter laughed nervously. You leaned forward setting your laptop and the lease on your coffee table, using the slightly more free movement to cup his face in your hands and kiss him. He blushed a little as he returned the kiss, resting his hands politely on your waist.

"Does your mom know yet?"Peter asked.

"She knows that we've been looking."

"Right."

"But this, I think she'll be very proud of."

"I'm glad to hear that."

"I'll call her later. For now, we should celebrate a little. I have a bottle of wine in the fridge."

"Could we take it to our place?"Peter grinned.

"That was the plan."

Peter smiled, pulling his mask back on and letting you get up to get the wine. You grabbed the wine and two glasses before walking back over to him. Peter scooped you up and you buried your face in his shoulder as he swung you across town to the apartment that you picked out earlier that month.

When you arrived, he gently set you down on the ground, taking the wine and the glasses while you sat down, still a bit dizzy from the swinging. Peter sat in front of you, pouring you each a drink as you had a celebratory drink together.

After drinks and takeout, you fell asleep on what will eventually be your living room floor once you've fully moved into your new place. You woke up before Peter did the next morning, getting up to look out of the ceiling to floor windows at the skyline as the sun rose over the city. It was a view that you'd been dreaming about seeing since you were young, seeing the sun light up what used to be Avengers Tower. The Tower had been rebuilt from what Peter told you, though you hadn't moved to New York until two years ago.

"Good morning."Peter hummed, wrapping his arm around your waist from behind and kissing your cheek.

"Good morning to you too."

"You're right. This view is priceless."

"Very."you smiled.

"One of these days I'll show you the Tower. It'd also be priceless."

"You sure you would be able to go back?"

"I've wanted to for months. It's just odd knowing that some of them won't be there."

You hummed. "I know."

"I'll be okay."

"You always are. But let's focus on this milestone first."

"Deal."

"I'll order us some breakfast this morning."

"Yes please. I'll call Uncle Bucky and see if he can help us move."

"Uncle Bucky."you laughed.

"What? He basically is."

"I love you, Peter."

"I love you too."

Peter walked into your now shared bedroom. You wandered in after him, mostly just curious about what he was doing. In the room, there's two suitcases of stuff on the floor. You leaned against the doorframe.

"What's this?"you asked.

"Just some of our stuff."

"When did you do this?"

"I was cleaning out my apartment, minus the furniture."

"How long have you actually had the lease?"

"Two days. I was hoping that I would be patient enough to surprise you with it already being furnished and everything but the other Avengers that are left were on a mission."

You smiled, walking into your bedroom and pulling him into a hug. He wrapped his arms around you tightly.

"I love you, Peter. You're adorable."you whispered in his ear.

"I love you too."
