Work Text:
You were a street rat, a scoundrel that most people did their best just to avoid. You were never sure why, you considered yourself to be a nice person, so it didn't really make much sense to you when people would keep a wide berth when you'd walk past.
You were especially confused when a man wearing some sort of red and blue spandex suit stopped at the bench you frequently slept on to bring you food.
"Here. I've seen you out here a lot. I know it isn't much but things can be expensive around here."the man had said, handing you a doggy bag with a sandwich and a soda inside it.
"You don't mind that I'm gross?"you replied.
"Believe me, I wouldn't be much better if I took the suit off."
"Thank you. What's your name?"
"Spiderman. But you can call me Peter."
You smiled. "I'm Y/N."
"Do you have somewhere to stay? Somewhere warmer?"
"No. This is kinda my bed."
Peter shook his head. "That won't do. Come on, I know a place."
Still hesitant, you carefully followed the masked hero down the streets of Brooklyn. He stopped in a small alleyway under a bridge that sort of looked like a makeshift apartment anyway. You looked around, confused as he pulled a curtain down over the opening and flipped on a light with a button that was hanging from a cord on the wall.
"This is my usual hideout. I lost the love of my life a while back so I've been staying here."he says.
"Oh… I'm so sorry."
He shrugs. "It was a long time ago. But, you can stay here whenever you need to. It might be more comfortable."
"Are you sure?"
Peter took his mask off. "Yeah, it's no problem."
Your words dried up in your throat as you looked at the pretty boy with sad brown eyes and messy sandy hair. Peter crossed his arms over his chest.
"Thank you."you managed.
"Of course."
"Do you usually give out your name?"
Peter smiles slightly. "No. But, something about you felt trustworthy."
"Well, I'll keep your secret, I promise."
"I know."
"Uhm. One question though."you nervously fidgeted with your worn out jacket.
"Yes?"
"There's only one bed. I wouldn't want to take that from you."
Peter shook his head. "We can sleep in the same bed or I can take the floor."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course."
"I mean… I usually don't sleep in the same bed as guys I just met, but maybe it'd be okay. It'd keep us both warm."
"I won't do anything, I promise."
"I know. You're a superhero, right?"you blushed.
"I try to be."
It had been months now since Peter let you stay with him. He'd helped you get a job at the local coffee shop and helped you find some clean and less ragged clothes. You'd gotten close in that time, cuddling every night and talking when he was staying back.
"I'm sure I should have asked earlier, but would you want to be my boyfriend?"Peter asked while the two of you were laying on the mattress on his floor.
"I would love that."you smiled, sitting up a little to look down at him.
Peter smiled back, rubbing your back with the hand that was wrapped around you. "Really?"
"Of course."
You leaned down, pressing a chaste kiss to his lips. He hummed into it happily, pulling you back into his arms. You rested your head in the crook of his shoulder, your other arm on his waist. He kissed the top of your head.
