Work Text:

Angela met Chanse through the Los Angeles comedy scene. They would do shows together occasionally, until they eventually ended up on a sketch comedy team together, Moon Goon. And since then they were inseparable.

It was known by people close to Angela that she was uncomfortable around littles. She didn’t dislike them, she just didn’t know how to act around them. She never told anyone why, but people could read between the lines when they learned about her religious upbringing.

Chanse was her first close friend who was a little. It wasn’t intentional, she had never pushed them away, it just was how it was. So while she had been around dropped littles before, even for prolonged periods, she’d never been in charge of one.

It wasn’t something she ever thought she’d have to think about, because in her mind, as a little, she would never need to. But as she befriended new people, she learned that it was surprisingly common for an undropped little to watch a dropped little if that person didn’t have a caregiver.

After being close with Chanse for a while and never seeing him little, she knew something was up. While she never spoke about being little, he did. She knew that he had a healthy schedule too. But no matter what day of the week she saw him, he was never little.

She didn’t mind if he was uncomfortable with her seeing him, but she had a gut feeling it wasn’t about him.

And one random Tuesday, she was proven right.

... -- --- ... ..../.. .../--. .- -.--

Angela walks up to Chanse’s front door with her laptop and a bag of chinese food. The two had planned to have lunch, drink wine, and write for an upcoming show they were doing together.

She knocks at the door, there’s no response, but she can hear the tv playing louder than it probably should be so she tries knocking harder. The knocking must have been heard this time as the tv is paused and she hears a bit of shuffling behind the door.

The door slowly cracks open, and Chanse pokes his head out. He still has bedhead, which is abnormal for him if he’s been awake for any decent period of time, and he’s wearing a Transformers shirt. The shirt isn’t entirely out of character, but with the bed head, and his slightly concerned expression, she can tell something is off.

“Hey” Angela calls out, “I brought lunch.” she adds, gesturing to the bag of food. “We were gonna hang out and write. It’s ok if you forgot and need to reschedule.” she adds kindly.

He shakes his head and opens the door to let her in.

She walks in and heads to the living room to put down the food, because they would usually eat on the couch. When she enters the living room, there’s a cartoon paused on the tv and toys scattered around the floor. She freezes and looks behind her to see Chanse watching her nervously. She walks to the table to put the food down, before turning to face him.

“Hi bud.” she starts nervously “You forgot I was coming because you dropped, huh?”

He nods slowly, looking down at his hands.

“That’s alright kiddo, it happens.” she says, attempting to reassure him. “Do you want me to leave? I don’t have to stay if you don't feel comfortable”

He shakes his head. “I don’t want you to be uncomfortable.” He mumbles, looking up at her again.

Angela hums in understanding, everything finally clicking for her. “You’ve been hiding your littleself from me because you thought I’d be uncomfortable.”

He nods.

Angela smiles ruefully at him, and walks to the couch and sits down. She pats the seat next to her. “Come here, baby.”

He scunches his nose at her for the nickname, but listens, sitting next to her.

“I’m guessing you thought my unease around littles meant I didn’t want to be around them?” she asks knowingly.

“Yep” he answers in a voice distinctly smaller than his normal voice, but not babyish in any way.

“I’m sorry I didn’t make that clear for you Chanse.” she apologizes, “I just don’t have experience being around them.”

She holds her hand out towards him “I’d love to get to know you, if you’d let me.”

He grins at her and takes her hand “You’ve got so much to learn about tv.” he responds seriously.

Angela laughs, letting go of his hand, and reaching for the food. “Still like Chinese food?” she asks genuinely.

He laughs. “Obviously,” he replies, rolling his eyes as he sits on the floor behind the coffee table.

She pulls out both of their food and places it in front of them, deciding to sit on the floor next to Chanse.

“Why the floor?” she asks curiously.

“If I get food on the couch, big me will take my Switch.” he recites, as if its been ingrained into his head.

Angela laughs. “You’re like 8 right?” she doublechecks.

He nods, taking a big bite of his food. “8 to 10.” he answers with food in his mouth.

She sighs. “Please don’t talk with food in your mouth, bud.”

He rolls his eyes, but listens, swallowing before he talks again. “Can I finish this episode of my show?” He asks politely, “It’s a good one.”

Angela smiles at him. “Go for it.” She replies easily, not wanting to say no when she interrupted him in the first place, especially when he was polite about it. “What’s the show?” she asks curiously.

This was a mistake apparently, as Chanse spends the next 10 minutes eating his food and attempting to explain the entire plot of the show to her, as he continually forgets what he’s said and goes on random tangents.

She listens intently, attempting to understand as best she can, asking questions occasionally, which accidentally causes him to go off on a new tangent

He eventually gets bored and gives up. “Got it?” he asks her before he presses play.

She nods, not getting it at all, but wanting him to get to watch his show. “Yeah, 4 nations, controlling the elements, bald guys the main character.”

“Close enough.” He says, pressing play.

With him having been half way through the episode, it's over quickly. “How about you watch one more, and I clean up the food?” she asks him.

“Really?” he asks excitedly.

She nods, and he hugs her.

“I love you Angela, I’m happy I get to be your friend now.” he says genuinely, referring to his little self.

Angela laughs, hugging him tightly. “And I love you, I can't wait to get to know you better like this.”

... -- --- ... ..../.. .../--. .- -.--

This was the first of many times Angela hung out with little Chanse. He began to treat his little space around her how she had imagined he did when she wasn’t around. He didn’t care about being little in public, or around new people.

After a high adrenaline show? He’s on the couch at the cast party happily playing a game on his Switch, while his cast mates drink and talk. Sometimes he’d regulate himself and come back up, joining the party. Other times he wouldn’t, and he’d pull out a few toys from his backpack, and convince the adults to play with him. When the party ends, Angela, his newly designated “adult” in the group, would get him home and to bed safely.

He would usually drop on a schedule, where he had people around to keep an eye on him. He would always text her to let her know anyway, and every once in a while, he would ask her to come over. And every time he did, she was there.

And even though she didn’t really understand his tv shows, or his games, she loved to spend time with him.

He had helped her become comfortable around littles, just needing some exposure to get used to it. She now easily interacted with the other littles in her life.

He was a sassy little shit, just like his big self, but he was also a sweet and loveable little boy.

She felt honored to be an important part of his life.

Notes:

I wanted to add "it's a shame he can't be there for her like she is for him", but I didn't want to end it on a sad note

More of those two cuz i love them

I've decided I do wanna have Tommy be his caregiver, I think that will have happened a bit before the amangela plot, but idk i haven't written it

I love to hear what everyone thinks!

Also mister "never be little and alone" being little and alone is a hypocrite
