Rebellious Teens, Amirite?

Summary:

The connection between Vlad Masters and Daniel Fenton is made. A connection between Phantom and either of the ones shall be avoided.
But things don't go as planned after Vlad Masters reveals himself as a halfa to the world at the brink of destruction.

Work Text:

Danny dodged Vlad’s magenta ecto blast as they chased each other though the air space over the city’s namesake park. Since his paternity came to light, Vlad tended to be more proactive in his attempts to ‘train’ him.

“Leave me alone, Plasmius!” Danny yelled. “Do you want me to use my ghostly veil on you?”

Vlad dodged his attack, “Well, I would like to see what your limit is, Little Badger.”

‘Oh uh…” they heard someone voice. Looking around, they spotted the reporter Lance Thunder hide among some bushes. “J-Just ignore me, ghosts!”

Danny flew closer to him, asking slightly more annoyed, “Dude, did you follow me again for an interview?” Lance nod. Danny rolled his eyes, “You’re lucky the fruitloop is too busy being annoying and not actively attacking anyone.”

Vlad chimed in, “Daniel, this is no way to speak about your father!”

“Wait, you guys are related?” Lance asked, forgetting his fear.

“Of course, after all my son and I were human once.” Vlad answered, before grabbing Danny. “If you excuse me, I need to discipline my rebellious son. Teens still are stubborn, aren’t they?”
“Yeah…” Lance replied, thinking about his own daughters rebellious phase. Both ghosts left and Lance felt… weird. “I… I basically interviewed two ghosts… That raise is in the bag!” He ran off to the news studio. “Harriett’s never

As Lance made his way to the TV station, his Chrysler just stopped working, leaving him stranded just blocks away from his work place. In addition to that, the air was just cold.

“Oh, come on!” he voiced, more so in annoyance and frustration than fear. Lance lived in this town long enough to know a ghoat was behind this, but also that the only ghosts with ice powers were, all things considered, harmless. “Klemper, is that you?” It could be Phantom, but Phantom doesn’t normally pull stunts like this.

However, it was Phantom’s head who poked out of his car’s dashboard. “No, just me. Listen, Lance Thunder.”

Lance swallowed his spit in fear. Phantom, while he protects the town, is still a very powerful ghost. Who is also known to avoid interviews, so him seeking out Lance Thunder just feels worrisome to the reporter in question. “O-Okay.”
Phantom took a deep breath. “You cannot tell anyone about my relation to Plsmius!” Phantom pleaded. “I know this is important for your career goals, so I offer you an interview in exChinge. But my relation to Plasmius needs to be a secret.”

Lance blinked in surprise. He did not see that coming. “I…” An interview would be a bigger scoop than just the story of having overheard two ghosta talking without proof. “Let’s do that. Mind restarting my car so that I can drive to the station?”

“Sure!” Phantom smiled, before restarting his Chrysler. Phantom then floated into the car and sat on the passager seat. “Aside from my relation to Plasmius, never ask a ghost about their death. It is a very taboo topic.”

Lance nod as he refocused on the street. That death is taboo… just makes sense. “Someone should tell Harriet that.”

Danny laid on his bed, staring at his ceiling, his thoughts just stuck in the events of last week, still processing the events.

It all started with that Astroid, coined the Disastroid. Vlad attempted to use this as a Chince to become the ruler of Earth, to the point of revealing himself as a halfa. Surprisingly enough, he didn’t outright reveal Danny as another Halfa when Danny tried to fight him. However he did let it slip that Phantom, too, is a halfa.

“Show us your black rings, Phantom!” Harriet Chin demanded, forgetting about the Disastroid for a hot second.

Luckily for him, the other people were more worried about the doom of their planet, so he had an easy time to not answer that demand.

Somehow, he convinced the other ghosts to assist, to turn earth invisible.

After the astroid passed though, things became stressfull again. As Phantom, Danny landed in the cold of the Antarctis, only to turn invisible as he noticed cameras pointed at him, with Harriet Chin leading the question, “Show us your rings, Phantom!”

He just could not. Then he heard Amorpho’s voice, who was right besides him but invisible. “Phantom, yur friend the Red Huntress asked me to cover for you. I’ll take your place and show them a human form belonging to no one. A red herring of a clue, if you will. You the while will return to your family, before anyone notes Danny Fenton is missing.”

“None should make that connection.” Danny decided. “Thanks, Amorpho.”

“Thank the Huntress, it was her idea.” Amorpho replied before taking his form and becoming visible to the cameras.

Danny just appeared by his sister’s side, who instantly looked at him, while staring at Amorpho. “How…”

“Got help form a Shapeshifting ghost.” Danny whispered her as Amorpho revealed the false form. A boy build like Phantom, but mousy dirt blonde hair and brown eyes, a boring figure none could nor would recognise. An enigma intented to be never solved.

Amorpho told them, “You never asked for my name. Bye!” He turned to Phantom again and flew off.

Sam and Tucker, followed by Valerie joined him. “Amorpho.” Danny just told them. He looked at Val, “Thanks for asking Amorpho, Red.”

She nod in acknowledgement.

His mother came, letting out a relieved seigh. “Time to go home, everyone.”

As soon as they returned home the next day, things turned to the worst. Everyone n Amity by now knew Daniel Vladimir Fenton was Vladimir Masters’ son. Now that he was Plasmius’ son. Of the man who held earth hostage.

While Phantom is seen as a hero, Danny is seen as a potential villain, if not as a full on villain.

At best, he just got stared at in school, at worst, Dash was not the only bully. The teachers didn’t even hide that they won’t do anything.

Many, rightfully so, assumed he had ghostly powers as well, so close but so far from the truth.

Only Valerie knew, who now became his protector. Until he just stopped showing up to school.

‘I switched to online schooling, now.’ she received a message from Danny. Later that day, Sam told him Danny was considering to just fully life in the Ghost Zone. “Turns out most ghosts don’t give a damn about their relation. Well, that and they know about their fighting.”

Considering Phantom showed up on the daily, Valerie figured out she meant to say Danny considered to life as Phantom full time.

The Red Huntress met him on the roof of the abandoned observatory. “Danny. I know you are Phantom.” she said in lieu of a greeting.

Danny just turned around to her and turned to Fenton. He looked, desite being human, more dead then as Phantom. He was pale, his hair unkept (albeit not dirty, just not really brushed) and he had eye bags, red from crying. He told her, sounding far to monotone for her liking, “You know, I somewhat wonder what would happen if I show them Phantom is Fenton. Will it make things better for me?”

“It could make things worse.” Valerie countered. “It could make some people to return to the ghost hate the GIW and your parents started.” As she mentioned the adults, she asked, “Do they know?”

That I am Phantom? Vlad’s son? Yes and yes. Don’t worry, they don’t hate me.” Danny assured her, “They are just very worried about me. It was mom’s idea, to go into the Ghost Zone. They know Danny Fenton is not safe here. That, at best, I would struggle to find a job, let alone get accepted into a college.”

“And at worst?”

He looked into her eyes. “A full death.”

“If you leave, what about your friends?” Valerie asked, “I heard rumors your parents consider to close the portal.”

“Sam and Tucker know how to traverse the Zone, it will be even easier when I get to make my own Ghost Lair. Ember had been bugging me to make one for months, now.” Danny told her. “And I got a friend who can make portals on demand. Me moving won’t mean cut contact, Val.” He then added with a dry chuckle, “You know, I inherited Vlad’s assets, the one proven to be gained legally. Surprisingly more than one would think.”

“Do you even need it?” Valerie asked, “Especially…” The rest remained unsaid.

Danny just shrugged. “I probably donate all of it, namely to charities to relieve his victims. Even if I do leave, I’ll donate some. I hate it, but if I stay on this side of the veil… I kinda need to rely on it. Tucker said he could create me a new identity, but I do not want him to get in trouble because of me.”

Valerie nod, a tear dropping down her face. She had a feeling what he would choose.
