To Lead A Star

Summary:

Kasane Teto is an otaku who one day discovers an idol, Hatsune Miku. Teto soon becomes a mega fan of her; going to her concerts, buying merch, even cosplaying as Miku at conventions. While hiding her secret from those teasing popular girls, Teto finds out about a new student during lunch, who looks oddly like Teto’s idol. And although her name was Miku, and she had the same hair color, she claimed that she wasn’t Miku, but was often confused for her. The two soon became friends, Teto turning a blind eye to all the suspicious things about her new friend. But when Miku gets more and more shy and nervous around her, Teto is determined to find what is wrong with her; even at the cost of both of their secrets.

Notes:

hi hi! I’m yui! This is my first fanfic, so I deeply apologize if it is bad… I wanted to share my story/headcanons of how Miku and Teto met.

Some notes regarding characters; Miku is 16, and Teto is 15. They are both in Highschool together. I would also like to imagine Miku’s “disguise” is her beta design/Miku “IF” design. I don’t have a set time period, but it was originally set to be in the late 2000s (to try and correlate with Miku’s debut) but I didn’t want to have to make everything align with the date…specifically I was nervous about the technology, so I thought it would be easier if I didn’t have a set period or anything lol

Please enjoy the first two chapters!!!

Chapter 1: My Lonely Morning

Summary:

Teto’s morning routine and her lonely start of the day

Chapter Text

Blue glowsticks filled the venue, so much light that it looked like an ocean. Most of the sticks were shaking in anticipation, waiting for the sound of a blue haired diva to began singing. Teto was shaking, and having a stupid smile on her face as she stood standing among a crowd of blue waves. She had dreamed of this moment since she saw Hatsune Miku singing about being in love on Nico Nico Douga. Clearly, she had captured the hearts of many people if the venue was this full, just like she had stolen Teto’s heart with that first note.
The lights slowly went on, inciting a roar of cheers and a jolt of excitement from Teto, who was probably going to cry as soon as “she” appeared. A gust of dust rose to the air from dispensers, announcing the arrival of the singer, who had lifted Teto out of her depression, who had made Teto believe in hope again, who had made her fall in love with music… A blue light graced the stage, about to illuminate the idol. The whole world stopped for Teto, but…

It was all a dream.

Teto had woken up, rubbing her eyes as she realized that the memory of being at Miku’s concert was a dream. She had relived the time she went to Miku’s concert in her own dream! Even her feelings were the same that entire time. It was weird. But she felt weirdly happy, nostalgic even, though the concert was just two months ago.
Stretching and realizing that it was almost time for her alarm to go off, Teto begrudgingly got up from her bed, flexing her back muscles and beginning to prepare to shower. Although anime nerds like herself had a bad reputation for smelling bad, she at least knew the concept of hygiene!

After the shower, the oddly motivated Teto devoured her waffles she quickly made a few minutes earlier. It was weird, Teto being so happy. Maybe it was the dream? The shower? She wasn’t sure herself. Either way, the bus was about to arrive, so she hastily put her shoes on, adjusting and tightening her gray scarf, and making sure that her glasses wouldn’t fall off outside.

“W-wow, it’s colder than I expected.” Teto mumbled to herself, as the wintry blow of wind burst through as she opened the door. The chimera made steady pace towards the bus stop, walking with a purpose but she was still clearly tired. She saw a faint blur of a vehicle, and when she moved closer, it was her bus; which had seemingly just arrived. Teto ran toward it anyway, her breath getting fast. She was never a runner, always sucked in gym class. Luckily for her, the bus was relatively close.

The chimera tried her best to not fall asleep on the train, with it being so warm and comfortable. Dang it, why did her energy drain already? Teto knew that there was a quiz today in one of her classes, which she wasn’t sure if she was even going to be able to remember everything on it. She didn’t know which class she was taking it in either.

A few dozen minutes later, rushing up a flight of stairs, Teto made it to her class, which she promptly mumbled a quiet “good morning” to her classmates and fell down on her desk. There was a long pause of the chattering after the loud rustle. It felt like everybody was staring at her. She was too nervous to look, but soon girls began to talk about the new cafe down the street, and the boys laughed about the game night the previous weekend.

Teto hadn’t done any of that in a long time. But Teto didn’t feel bad and lonely anymore,

She was used to it now.
