Summary
Jang Mi-ra knows the cost of a drink. Her childhood was a graveyard of broken promises and empty bottles, all culminating in the death of her alcoholic mother and the crushing, inherited weight of her debt. Mi-ra isn't playing for survival, she's playing for a clean slate, a chance to finally breathe without the ghost of her mother's failures suffocating her.
As she navigates the brutal games, she catches his attention. Not as a player to be eliminated, but as something intensely personal. In-ho, a man consumed by the rigid structure of the Games and the ghost of his own past, finds an unexpected, dangerous obsession with the woman fighting to escape a fate so tragically similar to his own.
