Summer School Love

Summary:

YuuMika Day 7: Free Day

Guren stepped back into the classroom, followed by a young blond teenager. As soon as Yuu caught sight of him, his mouth dropped open and his heart rate sped up.

'Holy shit he’s beautiful.'

Beside him, Shinoa and his other friends were snickering at his expression, but he didn’t notice and didn’t care, because at that moment, the blonde angel began speaking.

“Hello. I’m Mikaela Shindo, the T.A. for this class. I look forward to working with you all.”

Yuu and squad have to go to mandatory summer school for failing classes. It takes Yuu about two seconds to fall for the teacher's assistant, Mika.

Notes:

Hi. First things first, I am so really really extremely sorry, I know this is a day late. I was busy yesterday and didn't want to post a rushed work so I decided to be late with a (slightly) better work. It's still not as good as I had wanted though... I'm really sorry! ;-; I hope that you all still enjoy it though

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“This sucks.”

“Baka-Yuu, you’ve said that at least ten times already. We got the damn point.”

Yuu glared at the pinkette sitting next to him.

“Shut up, damn telephone pole. Why are you even here? Aren’t people with glasses supposed to be nerds?”

Kimizuki’s eyebrow twitched.

“That’s a fucking stereotype, dumbass.”

“Erm, you two-”

“Don’t bother, Yoichi. In a hot stuffy room like this, the two are bitchy enough without being near each other. There’s no way you’ll be able to stop them from ripping each others’ heads off.”

Yoichi, ever the peacemaker, sat back down hesitantly at Mitsuba’s words. He looked at the two boys worriedly. “But they’re-”

“It’s fine, it’s fine,” Shinoa waved off dismissively. “Like Micchan said, even you can’t control them in this setting. And besides, even if you could, why would you? It’s entertaining, and in a place like this, we could use any entertainment we get.”

“-somehow actually got an F overall for every-”

“Shut the hell up! You’re the one who-”

“At least I didn’t-”

A door slammed open loudly, shutting up Yuu and Kimizuki. In walked a black haired man with violet eyes and a scowl. As soon as Yuu realized who it was, he stood up, pointing at him.

“Stupid Guren!”

Guren’s eyes snapped over to the source of the voice, and as soon as he saw his adoptive son, he groaned out loud.

“Of course they’d give me the class with baka-Yuu in it.”

Yuu glared at him. “What the hell are you doing here?!”

Guren sighed in annoyance. “What do you think, idiot? I’m your damn teacher.”

“Seriously?! I have to take summer school, and you’re teaching it?” Yuu slumped back down in his seat, burying his face in his arms. “Ugh, to think I was actually looking forward to summer."

Guren shrugged. “Not my fault you failed your classes. Now shut up and take out your damn books.” He turned his gaze to the entire class, which had been either laughing or shocked by the interaction between the two. “That applies to all of you.”

The class quieted down instantly, sobering up. The bell rang, marking the beginning of their first day of summer school.

“-can’t change the subscript, so you need to-”

Guren’s droning voice was interrupted by knocking at the door. He sighed, putting down the textbook. He opened the door, looking down at the person who knocked. “What?”

“Excuse me, are you Mr. Ichinose?”

Yuu, who had been half asleep and doodling lazily in his notebook, looked up to see who it was. The rest of the students, or at least those who were still awake, did the same. Unfortunately for them, Guren’s frame blocked the figure standing at the doorway.

“Yeah, and who are you?” Guren asked, voice a mix of confusion and irritation.

“Mr. Hiiragi sent me. I’m your assistant for the summer.”

Guren nodded in understand. “Alright, come in and introduce yourself to the class.”

Guren stepped back into the classroom, followed by a young blond teenager. As soon as Yuu caught sight of him, his mouth dropped open and his heart rate sped up.

Holy shit he’s beautiful.

Beside him, Shinoa and his other friends were snickering at his expression, but he didn’t notice and didn’t care, because at that moment, the blonde angel began speaking.

“Hello. I’m Mikaela Shindo, the T.A. for this class. I look forward to working with you all.”

“So, Yuu-san...you’ve  definitely got the hots for Mika-san, right? Not that I blame you- if I didn’t have my perfect Micchan, I’d go for him too. That is one fine body he’s got.”

Yuu spit out his soda, coughing and gagging. “W-What?!”

Kimizuki rolled his eyes. “Don’t bother denying it. We all saw you, you were drooling over him from the moment he stepped in.”

Yuu felt heat rise to his cheeks. “I wasn’t-...well, it’s not like...it’s not like I like him or anything. I literally just met him, and we haven’t even talked yet.”

Yoichi giggled. “I think it’s cute. We all knew that you’re gay, but this is the first time you actually show interest in someone.”

Yuu turned his glare to Yoichi, feeling betrayed. “Yoichi, I thought you were on my side-”

Shinoa giggled and cut him off. “Yuu-san, there’s nothing to be embarrassed about. You’re obviously interesting in him. Some areas more than others, if your drooling and staring is anything to go by, but that’s irrelevant. You see a cutie, you wanna get with said cutie- totally normal, everyone our age is like that.” She put a finger on her chin, looking up. “Hm, who knows, maybe you’ll finally stop being a cherry-”

Yuu stood up, slamming his hands on the lunch table. “I’M NOT A CHERRY BOY!”

Silence suddenly permeating the lunchroom as every head in the room turned to stare at him. Yuu felt his face burst in flame as he slowly sat down.

To his utter horror, he noticed Mika sitting across the room. He, along with the people he was sitting with, had stopped talking and were watching him.

After another few seconds of awkward silence, conversation and noise resumed.

Shinoa and the rest of the group burst into laughter. Even kind Yoichi was struggling to muffle his giggles.

Yuu hid his face in his hands. “I hate you all,” he groaned.

“Alright, ya’ll are dismissed. Go home or do whatever you normally do, I don’t care, none of you are my responsibility for the next 18 hours except for baka-Yuu. Don’t forget to your homework.”

Guren walked out of the classroom as soon as the final bell rang, even more eager to leave than his students.

“Go talk to him. Now , before he leaves and you regret it and come crying to us,” Kimizuki hissed to Yuu, shoving him in Mika’s direction. The blond was packing up his books and preparing to leave, although he was moving much more calmly and slowly than the rest of the class.

“I don’t-”

“Yes, you do, stupid. You literally spent the past three hours staring at him like some creepy pervert, and you’re really bad at hiding it when you’re checking someone out, you realize that right?”

Shinoa pranced over to Yuu’s desk. “What if I told you,” she said in a singsong tone, “that he seems interested in you too?”

“...what?”

She shrugged. “I mean, he doesn’t drool over you the way you do over him, but he does seem to look at you more than the rest of us. Although...that might have to do with the scene from lunchtime. Well, either way-” she suddenly grabbed Yuu’s shirt and dragged him over to Mika.

“Hi, Mika-san! Yuu-san here wanted to talk to you. We’ll be waiting for him at the front entrance, you two take your time!”

With that, the purple haired girl promptly let him go and ran out the classroom. The two boys were the only ones left, as everyone else had already went home.

Yuu’s face immediately morphed into a tomato.

SHINOA YOU SNEAKY BITCH!

Mika stopped packing, giving Yuu his full attention. “Ichinose Yuuichirou, right? What can I do for you, Ichinose-kun?”

Those beautiful azure eyes looking into his was enough to take Yuu’s breath away. From this close, he could see more details about Mika than he had been able to from his seat. His hair wasn’t actually golden blonde, but somewhere between gold and platinum, and it looked really soft. Yuu had to restrain himself from running his hand through those gorgeous locks…

“-alright? ...Ichinose-kun!”

Yuu snapped back to focus, and realized Mika had probably tried to get his attention several times already. He coughed awkwardly, embarrassed that he had actually gotten distracted like that.

“Um, sorry...what were you saying?”

Mika’s eyebrows furrowed with worry, and he shot Yuu a concerned gaze.

Dang that expression is like, the cutest thing ever… If he’s always this cute, I’m going to die of adorableness overload before summer school is over.

“What did you want to talk to me about, Ichinose-kun?”

Yuu mentally shook his head, dispelling the thoughts, before realizing a whole other problem.

‘Shinoa shoved me here, but what the hell am I supposed to say?!’ he thought.

Mika stared at him for a few seconds, before he gave him a soft smile that had his heart rate rocketing.

“It’s okay, Ichinose-kun. You don’t have to be shy, you’re not the only one.”

Yuu’s eyes widened in surprise. “Wait, this is normal for you?”

Mika laughed. “Of course it is. This isn’t the first time I’ve volunteered as a teacher’s assistant. You’d be surprised, how many students are just like you. They’re all embarrassed, so I try to keep it hush-hush for them, but it’s more common than you’d think.”

Yuu blushed. “So, people approach you a lot to-”

“Ask for tutoring? Definitely. I don’t know why people are so hesitant, but I can assure you, asking for support is never a bad thing, and I don’t mind. If I didn’t want to help, I wouldn’t be here."

Yuu stood there, gaping at Mika. ‘We’re thinking two entirely different things!’ Yuu mentally screamed.

Mika pushed several loose strands of blond behind his ear as he turned to his bag, reaching down and pulling out a planner.

“You’re the first person so far to ask, so luckily for you, I have a lot of available time slots. I’m free everyday during lunch and after school.” He clicked open a pen, looking back up at Yuu.

“So, what do you want to go over, and when? Mr. Ichinose mentioned that you struggle particularly with math and chemistry, but I want to know what you yourself feel needs most work.” He gave Yuu another encouraging smile. “It’s okay if you need help with more than one subject.”

At first, Yuu wanted to correct the misunderstanding, but he suddenly realize what a good opportunity this was.

‘Well, it’s not like I’m doing anything bad. He offered, and I do sort of need help in...every subject, so…’

“C-Chemistry, math, and physics? And...everyday after classes, at least until someone else asks for tutoring? If that’s not too much.” Yuu hesitantly asked.

Mika wrote in his planner. “Everyday after school it is, then. From 2:30 to 4:30, maybe?” After receiving a nod from Yuu, he made a few more notes, before snapping the planner shut and picking up his book bag.

“I look forward to working with you, Ichinose-kun.” He gave Yuu one more kind smile, before walking out the classroom, leaving Yuu alone.

Yuu was sure his face was about to explode with heat. He crouched down, face in his hands.

‘Holy shit, I’ll be having tutoring sessions with him every day. Just the two of us, working together two hours a day...alone with him…’

Yuu suddenly shot back up, a wide grin on his face and his eyes sparkling.

Two hours a day working alone with him.

‘Well, it seems summer school won’t be so bad after all.’
