Summary
The infected, while terrifyingly durable and dogged in their determination to spread the parasite, were not superhuman. They had normal human bodies, and thus their senses were not any more enhanced than the average person’s. They would not be able to smell her, and if she was quiet, she could probably get away without them hearing her.
It was fine. She was fine. There was a back exit just through here, Maomao knew there was, it was how she had gotten into this pharmacy in the first place without being detected. It was just around this corner, past the lockers and break room, she could get out before anything–
A tall shadow stood in her path, too tall, reeking of iron and old sick.
Maomao scrambled to a halt.
