Chapter Text
"Try this one" Mike throws another blue T-shirt towards Will who catches it rather gracefully.
"Why are all of your shirts full sleeved?" Will complains.
"Don't tell me California made you forget how cold Hawkins gets in the winter, besides, mom doesn't let me get anymore half sleeved shirts since I turned 15. Says it makes me look like a child"
"Mike, it's 3 more months till fall, I'm going to sweat my ass off in this"
"I'm wearing one too, just wear it"
"It's too small, Mike" Will holds up the open shirt in front of him.
"Will, just wear it come on, no way you're a larger size than me"
"Fine, you'll see" Will rolls his eyes and takes the shirt begrudgingly to the washroom to change.
The sound of the lock clicks and Mike sits down at the warm spot where Will had been. Will comes back out in seconds and Mike can't believe what he sees.
The boy he knew from his early days in Hawkins is not here anymore. Who is here instead is this man with perfectly sculpted biceps and shoulders which are sitting tight under the clothing, whose chest and abs make delicious lines at the front of the T-shirt which is now a lighter shade of blue, stretched over this new body. Was this the same Will who was always smaller than everyone else in the party?
Mike stares at him wide eyed.
"Mike," Will breaks the silence, and hearing his name in that familiar voice grounds him back again, telling him that he's still the same person he's always been fond of "I can't move in this"
"Uhh, umm, yeah--" Mike stutters.
"You okay?"
"Yeah I- uhmm-just let me get you another shirt" Mike scrambles up and scoots towards his closet.
He begins to nervously skim through all his clothes not really looking through anything, his mind preoccupied with the image of his supposed best friend looking like that in his own bedroom. Was it wrong to just want to touch him?
The sound of the hangers moving left and right lasted for too long when Will finally says "Mike, maybe I'll just get something at the mall, if it's still standing or maybe at the shelter, there's gotta be options there"
"Wait wait wait" Mike says hurriedly and turns back to look at him, "maybe some of my dad's clothes will fit?"
Will laughs, "it's already bad enough for him with all of us here, all the time, and now you want to take his clothes too? Besides, he's already given some of his clothes to Johnathan, I don't want to bother him again"
"So you want to go shopping during the apocalypse?"
"Do you want me to run around Hawkins without any clothes on?" Will laughs again.
Mike, takes a second longer to answer "No! Let's go shop" with a gulp that Will promptly notices.
"Are you sure you're fine?"
"Of course I'm fine, why wouldn't I be fine?" Mike says swiftly.
"Oh-kay..." Will smiles with furrowed brows, not completely believing him, "let's go then".
"Let's" Mike smiles back.
