Chapter Text
Silverbell hummed as he walked through his sector of the forest.
It was another beautiful day. The sun was shining, blueberry birds were singing, the brook he fluttered over was clear and bubbling. It truly was a perfect day.
As he patrolled his path, something caught his eye.
A gem bat flew above him and towards the kingdom's general direction. What was odd was gem bats were usually nocturnal creatures that couldn't stand sunlight or noise. So why would it be heading for the faerie kingdom with it's masses singing all day and glowing and reflective flowers?
Silverbell spread his wings and flew after the gem bat from a distance.
He followed the creature to a clearing only a few miles away from the kingdom. He perched himself up in a tree as he watched the gem bat land before a swirl of purple smoke surrounded it.
It took the form of a cookie. It's wings moved downwards, sitting on the cookie's hips. Arms grew from where the wings were originally and legs grew from the tiny little foot nubs of the gem bat. As the smoke settled, the sunlight caught the glint of black sapphire earring and a black sapphire gem on a white ascot. A black jacket with loose, puffy sleeves that matched the tight pants and purple heeled boots.
Silverbell eyes widened when he realized who it was.
Black Sapphire Cookie, servant of the beast of deceit, Shadow Milk Cookie.
He appeared to be distracted with fixing his hair in the reflection of a pond. It was the perfect chance for an ambush.
Silverbell quietly fluttered on to a tree branch a few yards above and away from Black Sapphire. He slowly pulled an arrow out of his quiver, drawing it back on his bow.
"Who's the sexiest Cookie in the forest?" Black Sapphire asked.
The question caught Silverbell off guard and his arrow almost slipped.
"You are, you handsome devil," Black Sapphire chuckled.
Silverbell's face twisted into one of confusion. Was he talking to his reflection? How vain was this guy? He shook it off and raised his bow, aiming it directly at the back of Black Sapphire's head.
"Who's a smart cookie?" Black Sapphire questioned.
Silverbell exhaled softly, preparing to launch an arrow.
"Why you, you gorgeous specimen," Black Sapphire chuckled. "Smart enough to see an ambush when it's clear behind you."
The statement caught Silverbell of guard, causing his arrow to slip from fingers and fly towards Black Sapphire's head.
Black Sapphire quickly side-stepped out of the way, spinning around as he summoned his staff and pointed it at Silverbell. Gems appeared and shot out at the faerie knight. Silverbell jumped back, off the branch and into the air as the gems hit the tree branch he was perched on, exploding and breaking the branch he was on.
"State your business, Black Sapphire!" Silverbell demanded, landing on the ground a couple of yards away.
"So you know my name it would seem... I'm afraid that's none of your business, faerie," Black Sapphire grinned. "Might I have your name?"
"You said so yourself. I'm afraid that's none of your business, villain," Silverbell glared, drawing another arrow and releasing it without hesitation.
Black Sapphire deflected it by spinning his staff before summoning more exploding gems. They soared through the air as they locked on Silverbell and chased the faerie as he took to the air.
"Running away, cowardly faerie? Some knight!" Black Sapphire taunted, mockingly looking at his nails as if unbothered by the situation.
Silverbell flew backwards as he shot arrow after arrow, exploding the gems before they could get close enough to explode near him. He flew half way up to the canopy before grabbing a different looking arrow and shooting it up above the trees. It exploded in the air, releasing a bright pink powder. He smiled to himself as he fell back and dive-bombed Black Sapphire.
The ground shot up a massive amount of dust as the ground around the impact became like a crater.
When the dust settled, Black Sapphire was pinned on the ground, Silverbell straddling his lap with an arrow just above Sapphire's neck.
"I'll cut your throat. That'll shut you up," Silverbell threatened.
Black Sapphire stared up at Silverbell, breathless from the impact and what he saw. The sunlight above created a halo of light around Silverbell's head. His pale blue hair gently bounced in the wind while his aquamarine eyes glared down at him. Never had he met a cookie that managed to get the upper hand on him, let alone get close enough to do any damage.
"You're beautiful..." he mumbled without thinking.
Silverbell was caught off guard once more. He wasn't expecting that as a response.
They started at each other as Silverbell slowly lifted his arrow away from Black Sapphire.
"Silverbell!" Mercurial Knight called out in the distance.
Silverbell looked up from Black Sapphire, in the direction the call had come from. Backup came.
Taking quick advantage of the distraction, Black Sapphire flipped them over so he was the one pinning Silverbell.
Silverbell tried to struggle but Black Sapphire pinned his wrists against the dirt.
"So, your name is Silverbell, hm~?" Black Sapphire purred. "A pretty name for a pretty faerie~"
Silverbell's face flustered and he continued to squirm.
"Let me go!" he exclaimed.
Shush, shush~," Black Sapphire hushed, leaning closer. "You're an interesting faerie. I must admit, you've caught my attention."
"I said GET OFF!" Silverbell shouted louder.
Black Sapphire rolled again into a standing position, holding Silverbell against his chest, as a flash of silver passed.
Mercurial Knight's glaive was embedded in the ground where they had laid previously. Mercurial Knight pulled his Glacie out of the ground and pointed it Black Sapphire.
"Release Silverbell now, follower of evil," Mercurial Knight ordered.
Black Sapphire chuckled and let go of Silverbell, who had no balance and landed on his butt.
"You faeries are no fun," Black Sapphire sighed. "At least, none besides you, Bellflower~ Farewell, for now~"
"You're not going anywhere!" Mercurial Knight barked, charging Black Sapphire.
Black Sapphire disappeared in a cloud of purple smoke and black confetti as Mercurial Knight flew through it.
"Damn it," he huffed.
Mercurial Knight helped Silverbell up, making sure his friend regained his balance before letting go.
"Are you alright, Silverbell?" he asked.
"Yeah. I'm sorry, Mercurial. I let him get away," Silverbell apologized.
"We both let him get away," Mercurial stated. "Let's return to the kingdom and inform Elder Faerie of this. He'll want to know the beast's minions are near the kingdom."
"Then let's go," Silverbell nodded.
The two faeries flied back towards the kingdom, unaware of the bat watching them leave, a mischievous glint in it's eyes.
