Work Text:
It was supposed to be just another meeting at the watch tower, it was a scheduled meeting and there was no emergency or anything so most of the members were dozing off as each member was giving their report on their respected areas. But of course Bruce can never have a moment of peace, Jason was finally settling down and was getting used to the way things were at the manor and being Robin.
So there was bound to be chaos coming up, but he wasn't expecting it to be now of all times, sure he wasn't caught off guard, he has two teenage boys, one was a circus boy and another was a Gotham street kid, he's never caught off guard... but that doesn't mean that he can't not expect something.
"Recognized, Nightwing, B-01. Recognized, Robin, B-13. Escort override: Nightwing. Unrecognized individual: access granted." Bruce was so going to be asking Barbara to help him figure out a way that the Zeta will be able to give some form of a name when unrecognized individuals come through, because the JL are in defensive stances and he can't even tell them to stand down because he doesn't know all three of them yet, he only knows his two boys.
"B! B okay so like I know you said that we're not allowed to come up here, but like okay so you've got to understand it was an emergency!" The one in a black and blue suit calls out, walking over and into the room as if the entire JL wasn't standing in a defensive position ready to fight the three of them. "Okay so like Rob was like going to the neighbors to ask the boy next door to come play games with us but like when he got there he called me and told me to meet him there and like oh my god like you don't understand the state of that house like his parents should be in like prison or something B!"
"Nightwing, breath. Where is Robin, and the other boy?" The JL all stood down at noticing that he knew the boys, but that doesn't mean that they weren't curious as to who he was.
"Rob took him to the medical area, he'll be fine because like we're here now and he's not there, but like can you like make sure he doesn't go home!" Jason has never been good with bandages and medical help, so Bruce decides that his colleagues can wait, he's got a 9 year old boy he's got to go help right now. So he leads his elder boy to go join his brother in the medical bay because he want's to know how bad the injuries actually are so he can help Jason deal with it properly.
"Hey chum, what's happened to you?" Bruce asks, walking into the medical bay and taking his cowl off to help the boy feel more calm, the cowl is only supposed to be seen by rouges and his colleagues, it is in no way calming for a 9 year old to see. The boy was swelled so badly there was no way it wasn't an allergic reaction, his mouth was in no shape to talk, so pulling out a note pad from his cape Bruce hands it to the boy so he has some form of communication.
"I 4got to tell sushi place that I can only have coockt fish I 8 the sushi and tung got itchy so I went to get medisin but fell and cut me arm" The kid's spelling wasn't all too bad, especially with him having an allergic reaction and not being able to think all too well. As long as he was able to understand what he was saying that's all that matters, and honestly he's glad he didn't leave Jason to do this because he needs medication and he doesn't want the boy to overdose on medication because Jason gives him too much.
So Bruce goes over to give him some medication before patching up his arm, having Dick go to get an ice pack for his face to help with the swelling, making sure to thank Jason for bringing him to the medical area and waiting for him before doing anything. But once all is done that they can do, he picks the boy up and rests him on his hip as he leads his two boys back to the meeting room where his colleagues are. There was no way he wouldn't have to explain this to them.
"Apologies for the interruption, as you heard there was an emergency, everyone is fine now." Sitting back down in his seat he positions the boy so that he's sat on his right knee with Dick and Jason stood on either side of him as they look at their respected favorite heroes. But Bruce never makes any attempt to introduce his boys to them, expecting them to continue with the meeting as if revelating news hasn't become apparent to them about the most secretive man there.
Without saying a word Dick makes his way to go sit on his other fathers lap, the man in blue going on autopilot and simply picking him to pick up the 13 year old and placing him on his knee in almost an identical way that Bruce is holding the other boy, Jason simply looking at Diana but not making a move to sit with his favorite hero.
"Okay what is going on!? And why is Supes not reacting to one of these kids sitting on his lap!?" Both Dick and Jason stare at Barry at that, everyone knows not to call 13 year olds a kid, they've entered the stage of being a teenager and have upgraded from the label of child. "What!?"
"I'm 13 thank you very much!" That gets a laugh from his brother, with an ever so silent sigh of amusement from Bruce, luckily the only one that can hear it is his husband with his super hearing. "And this is my papa! Why would he react to me sitting on his lap!?" That gets a lot of reactions, mostly only non-verbal ones, but reactions none the less. Nobody had known about Bruce and Clark's relationship, let alone the kids.
"B. What's going to happen with Tim?" So that's what the kids name is, he knows he should've known that already... but he really never has been good with names, he has so many he has to remember already. "Can you adopt him too?"
"Robin, we can talk about that when we go back home, B and I need to finish this meeting first alright?" Jason ends up finding his way onto Bruce's other knee, the JL being more than confused at everything that is going on. Because why is Superman talking to Batman's kid like they're also his kids and why is he wording it like they all live together.
"As you can see I have business to attend to, can we finish this meeting up?" Diana is the first to speak up, technically Barry had... but that was more of a reaction rather than an actual question.
"Batman I'm sure you'd understand the situation the rest of us are in right now, we are rather confused what the relations are between the lot of you." Bruce knew this was going to happen from the moment the zeta announced their names, but rao was he hoping that they wouldn't actually ask. "I know you prefer privacy and I can respect that, I'm not asking for identities or anything, I'm simply wondering the relations between you all."
"Nightwing and Robin are my adoptive children," He starts, the respective kid waving at the mention of their names. "Superman and I are married. This here is Tim, he is our neighbor and a friend of the boys, his parents are... away for the time being and he is staying at our place for the time being." He was expecting more non verbal reactions and responses, but he ended up breaking them and got nothing in return.
"Now that they know about us can we come over!" Dick calls out, looking at Superman knowing that he would be more likely to actually agree rather than Bruce himself. "We know we can't come over every time, but like you come here for social gatherings and stuff too! And it's not like we don't also work as vigilantes!" It was that last part that got them to start an outrage, because what on Earth is a 13 year old doing fighting!?
"Your pa and I will discuss it tonight, you still have school and patrols to do as well, but we will talk about it." Both Jason and Dick cheer at this, no mater how frustrated the JL are at Batman and Superman allowing children to be vigilantes, the kids cheers were still rather cute to witness.
"What about Tim? We need to situate something with the boy." Clark pitches in, not helping Bruce finish the conversation so they can get back to the meeting at hand.
"We still need to figure out what's going on with him and his parents before we do anything with him first. Right now we need to just focus on this meeting so we can situate something when we go back home." Much to the rest of the JL's despise, the meeting does continue, Bruce pulling out snacks from his utility belt to give to the boys so they can eat something while the adults finish their reports on their respected cities.
The moment the meeting ends Bruce, Clark, Dick, Jason and Tim make their way to the zeta and back home, none wanting to give any explanations right now... okay maybe Clark did, but he doesn't ever want to say something his husband isn't comfortable with sharing so he does agree to let it be, the man had already revealed more than he was comfortable with ever sharing. Especially whilst the boys are still as young as they are, but he was still proud of his partner none the less, he was managing it a lot better than he had thought he would.
Getting back to the manor Bruce leads Tim to the medical area to check on his arm as well as the swelling, it having mostly gone down by now. He was looking a hell of a lot better, Clark and him had exchanged a quick work while Dick and Jason were showing the boy around the place, the both of them knew they couldn't let him go back to his place. It wasn't safe, he was a 9 year old, no 9 year old deserves to be left home alone, especially not after having an allergic reaction.
"We can't adopt him, not within the next 24 hours, but we can call up the commissioner and be placed as emergency foster carers, until we can get him in the process of adoption, we can be his foster parents. Dick and Jason seem to like him so I don't think that would be any problem either." Clark had a point, he's pointed out that Bruce has a thing for younger children in need, sure he's only adopted two children, but he's about to adopt his third and every time he sees any homeless kid Clark can hear the change in heart beat.
Making their way to the game room they find the three of them more or less falling asleep on one another, the Wii playing its iconic background as the boys doze off. Clark picks Dick and Jason up and brings them to their respected rooms as Bruce picks up Tim and brings him to a spare room, Alfred had been away to visit family which is why this whole thing happened, but it caused Bruce to get another child so he is in no way complaining.
After tucking the boy into a fresh bed near Bruce and Clark's room, leaving the door ever so slightly open so that if Tim ever needed he would be able to tell what room to go to for whatever reason. So when the pair of men go to bed they do end up making sure that the closet light is on so that there is enough light coming from the bedroom door so that Tim can tell they're in there but also so that he'll be able to find his way around the room and not run into anything.
Everything was going to work out, Tim is safe, Dick and Jason had finally been introduced more or less to the Justice League, and Bruce and Clark were finally able to be themselves in front of their colleagues now that they knew of their relationship.
Tim is safe and everyone is happy, what more could the bat family ever ask for.
