Avery doesn’t know how he got Leroy to accept his idea. Like, even when he mentioned Minecraft before, Leroy would suddenly stop and look away, his body shaking. It was a dream come true that he accepted this!
You see, after the whole incident with the King in Yellow, Avery threw away Leroy’s old laptop, and the knight never touched Minecraft ever again. Seeing things related to the game always made Leroy shiver and just gaze at the ground. Avery even asked if mentioning the game activated some sort of command inside Leroy’s head, but he answered that the only thing that activated was bad memories.
But then, Avery had an idea. He bought an PS5 version of Minecraft for his console, put his usual account on it, and downloaded some stupid horror add-ons for him to play. However, it wasn’t just him who was going to play; Leroy would too.
His plan was to have Leroy play these horrible horror mods so he would distract himself and forget that he was playing Minecraft. Probably, he wouldn’t even get scared because he would know where the monster was before it even attacked him, but it was worth a shot.
Avery passed weeks planning everything that could and couldn’t happen. If Leroy didn’t accept the moment he asked him, he would have an army of arguments to use to convince him. If Leroy accepted, he had a step-by-step plan to get his boyfriend comfortable. He felt like he would be the one with the knowledge of everything in this situation.
And now, they were sitting in the middle of the room, controls in hand, as the screen showed that the world was being created. The slime guy turned to see how Leroy was looking, and the guy was clearly tense, gripping the controller hard, but he was not giving up. Avery felt proud, in a way, seeing that Leroy wanted to overcome his fear and play his favorite game again.
The screen changed, and Avery’s vision could be seen. Leroy quickly clicked on the button of the controller, and his screen could also be seen. The screen was divided vertically.
“Seriously? Vertical?” - Avery grumbled, pausing the game only to change the screen. He could hear Leroy’s chuckle on his side, and he chuckled as well.
They started playing, and for Avery’s surprise, it was actually kind of calm? As calm as it can be with you playing the Cave Dweller and the Knocker add-ons. Leroy surely got scared sometimes, but once things got repetitive, he started joking around with Avery and trying to test out things with the slime guy. They even ended up locking the Knocker for some time in their base.
It seems that his plan actually worked. Leroy forgot everything that scared him and started to play Minecraft like someone who always loved the game would do. Avery tried his best not to mention anything King-related, and also didn’t mention yellow in any sort. Their base was even entirely in green and red, their favorite colors, and no trace of yellow.
Now it would come the second part of his plan. They would play in a normal Minecraft world, with no add-ons. Avery was extremely nervous, since in the other world, Leroy could get distracted with the monsters, but here? It was just normal Minecraft.
But it seemed that Leroy really wanted to try out, because he touched Avery’s shoulder as the slime guy created a new world, making him turn to see his knight’s face, and seeing that charming smile of his. God, he felt all fuzzy inside, and smiled back. He loved this man so much.
They started playing again. Their objective was to, at least, go to the Nether. They got wood and rocks, built a base, went to some villages, and even got to mine in caves (Avery was honestly surprised that Leroy was the one that said for them to go to the caves).
Eventually, they were playing normally again. Doing random stuff, joking, and passing most of the time decorating the base. Actually, they focused so much on decorating the base that they forgot to prepare to go to the Nether, so it was finally night in the real world, and they didn’t achieve their objective.
“Fucking- We didn’t even go to the Nether!” - Avery complained, turning off the PS5 after closing Minecraft.
“That’s no problem. We can always play another day.” - Leroy answered, which got him a loud gasp from the slime guy.
“Y-You… We… A-Another… S-SERIOUSLY?!” - Avery screamed, running to sit at Leroy’s side again and stare at him with wide pupils.
“Yes… We can play another day, Avery. It seems that your plan worked.” - Leroy responded, laughing at how surprised Avery was. - “I already knew that your plan was going to work, but… It was fun seeing it coming to action.”
“See? I’m great at solving people’s traumas!” - The slime guy commented, more to himself, and Leroy laughed at his stupid pose.
“You didn’t cure me, totally. I think it was easier for me because you were at my side, playing with me.” - Leroy explained, picking up his controller and putting it on the table next to him.
“Oh, that’s so cheeky!” - Avery teased, leaning to give Leroy a soft kiss on the mouth. - “I love you.”
“Love you too.” - The knight immediately answered, getting up and pulling Avery with him. - “You know, I have some ideas for our base, if you want to hear.”
“Yes, of course! And… No! If we talk more about the base, we aren’t going to the Nether!” - Avery immediately protested, walking faster so he was going to be in front of Leroy.
The other man just laughed, following his boyfriend to his bedroom. It was a nice afternoon, and he was glad to have Avery as a boyfriend. He doesn’t know if it’s the King’s plan to get Avery in his life, but he was glad that this happened. A lot of bad happened from the King, but Avery wasn’t one of them.
