in my endless rewatching of the first two episodes, i started noticing how shane and ilya are often juxtaposed through their clothing. shane keeping his socks on during sex is a big part of this! i love how we can see his emotional journey about accepting his attraction to ilya through his socks. especially when we pointedly see ilya taking off his socks during their first hook-up and how there's almost always a wide shot of him showing his bare feet in the following sex scenes. then episode 3 blatantly uses scott's blue banana socks to symbolize his sexuality, and i noticed more sock moments while scrubbing through the first two episodes again for screenshots that i have A Lot to say! this first post will go over the sock journeys in episode and i'll go through eps 2 and 3 in other posts. also clothing symbolism in general at some point because it's just too good!
