He should have just said “nothing” and dropped it but now that the blonde was looking at him expectantly- he had to keep going.“I said I didn’t know angels were real,” he repeated.
The other smirked, “what’s your name?”
“Hwang Hyunjin.”
His smile widened, “are you implying I’m an angel, Hwang Hyunjin?”

Summary
Not fanfic. Horror short story / frame narrative about the perils of what AI will do to our society. 50 years hence, AI has rendered humans obsolescent to the point where few attempt a tertiary education. 95% of people go their entire lives unemployed, eking out an existence on UBI and numbing themselves with constant entertainment. Consequently, many universities have gone bankrupt and sold off their assets. For the children of the elite, their position in this world is hereditary, derived from trusts that AIs owe royalties to. Higher education is a thing of the past. Or, where it is attempted, it is an amphetamine-fueled nightmare that ends in death not infrequently.
Even so, the children of the elite, as they enter adulthood, still want some of the social function of what college was once. With this in mind, a few surviving institutions have pivoted to "college reenanctment." And it is a very authentic reenactment. "Students" attend a fake semester, do fake coursework for a sense of struggle and an emotional arc, but mostly just focus on constantly having a good time. Entire cities are cordoned off for this purpose, with a fence and police force to keep out the underclass. Our class reenacts 2002.

Kris and Ralsei are two of the three main characters in Deltarune, and if you judge their relationship across the first four chapters by their mandatory on-screen interactions, you would consider it to be awkward, one-sided and forced.
But what if that's just what they want you to see, and not what's actually going on? What do they talk about when we go and see how Susie is doing? And do they know more about what's going on with each other than they let on?
In the following essay, I shall explain how much of their relationship is kept hidden from the player, how this has led to numerous misunderstandings in the wider fandom, and what that could mean for their roles in the story, setting out what I believe to be a more accurate and comprehensive reflection of their characters than the initial evidence might suggest.
