Work Text:

"It's getting late, i think we're gonna head out." Mikey, Gerard’s brother said as he stood up off the ground to put on his puffy jacket.

"Alright, drive safely, the snow is pretty bad today” Mikey hummed in response, almost naturally not caring what his brother said while he put his sneakers back on and grabbed Ray’s keys off the coffee table.

“You heard me, right?” Gerard crossed his arms, dipping his head towards his brother.

Mikey had come over along with other friends of theirs, Ray and Joe. They’d all been friends since high school and finally decided to meet up and catch up on life five years after graduating high school, sharing memories they’d nearly forgotten if it weren’t for one of them bringing it up. The hangout felt long overdue, especially since Gerard had gotten a boyfriend and the rest of the guys were busy with full-time jobs. It also wasn’t that Frank didn’t like visitors but he did enjoy his alone time with Gerard or just liked to stay home.

“Yeah, yeah…I’m not the one driving anyways,” Mikey scoffed, “You should worry about-“

"I don't wanna go, man!” Joe shouted, pouting while he whined over and over again—still shuffling the cards they were playing with earlier. He was obviously tipsy.

Mikey smiled and shook his head, not caring that he had cut him off.

Ray struggled to put his other arm through the other hole of his own jacket, “We’ll see you again soon, right, Gee?”

Gerard shrugged, “Depends on when i’ll be free”

”Depends on when his boyfriend lets him out the cage” Mikey chimed in, earning a laugh from the other boys.

“Fuck off” Gerard said lightheartedly while he shook his head and chuckled.

Once Ray finally got his jacket on, he took the last sip of his water bottle, “Well, whenever he does, call us!” He gave Gerard a warm smile—receiving one back.

"Get up! Let's go already, you can drink more at home" Ray assisted Joe with his jacket and tossed his shoes at his feet to encourage him to put them on.

Ray mouthed to the boys and shook his head; He's not drinking anymore.

Gerard walked towards the door, opening the door for his friends once they were done getting ready to go out in the snow. He watched and helped Joe find his wallet—patting his own pockets to prove to a tipsy Joe that he in fact didn’t have his wallet because turns out it was in his right pocket, not his left.

"Text me if you need anything! Be careful" Gerard shouted while his friends walked away, all of them saying their goodbyes at the same time except Joe who reacted to late.

Once he closed and locked the door, he happily jogged towards his bedroom. He softly cracked it open to poke his head through the door and there laid his boyfriend, peacefully sleeping on the edge of their shared bed.

The nightlight was dim while the small window on the opposite side of the room was cracked open for fresh air. He quietly walked towards the window, the cold air hitting his face before shutting it. The snow was building up on the side of their window, quickly reminding him of how hard the snow had hit their city. There was soft jazz music playing—so faint that he didn’t hear it up until now. He grabbed Frank’s phone, pausing the music. He assumed Frank played the music to block out some noise that seeped from the living room.

He turned around and looked at his cute boyfriend again. Frank’s body was practically wrapped like a burrito with a fluffy black blanket. The closer he got, Frank’s nose appeared to be a faint shade of pink, almost unnoticeable to anyone who didn’t pay close attention.

is my baby sick’ He thought to himself.

Gerard moved closer and crawled into bed, trying his best to get under the blanket with Frank without disturbing him too much.

He began to softly peck his boyfriend's face with barely any pressure, attempting to wake him up just to ask a few questions. Gerard wrapped his arms around Frank’s waist and it felt so warm.

Gerard’s friends and brother had been over for well over 3 hours, he couldn't help but miss his boyfriend although they were both in the same apartment. He would check on Frank every few minutes or so and each time Frank was still asleep. Yet, every hour he didn’t spend with Frank, it felt like an eternity more than anything.

Frank groaned softly, shifting onto his side, hugging his boyfriend tightly and covering his face on Gerard’s chest that smelled like their new candle.

"Are you awake? It's kind of late, sorry for waking you up" Gerard’s voice was soft as honey.

Frank mumbled, "It's okay" He separated himself just to flutter his eyes open. Frank looked at Gerard with his eyes that were still trying to stay open—narrowed and dark.

"Did your friends leave?" He asked, pecking the older’s lips.

Gerard simply hummed, wiping Frank’s eye boogers and tucking his hair strands behind his cold ear. Gerard leaned closer, pecking both sides of Frank’s cheeks.

"Do you feel sick?"

Frank shook his head, confused at the sudden question.

"It's snowing outside, let's not leave the window open, okay?" Frank nodded, smiling now that he understood why Gerard had asked. He managed to sound both protective and relaxed at the same time—it made Frank feel good.

Gerard deeply sighed, “I missed you…a lot”

Frank weakly scoffed and was barely able to crack a smile from how lazy he was. “It was only an hour.”

“Three,” Gerard corrected, “but who’s counting anyway?”

“Whatever” The younger shook his head and snuggled closer, shutting his eyes in hopes of sleep again only this time next to Gerard. “I missed you too, don’t go.”

“Not even to clean up the mess?” Gerard teased, starting to sit up as if to challenge him, but Frank fought back—tugging him back and whining.

“Gee, stooop,” Frank drawled, only half annoyed by Gerard’s annoying antics. Because only they two knew Frank secretly liked the teasing.

Gerard let out a small ‘awh’ and tightened his arms around Frank, falling back to stay with him. They both got more comfortable, Gerard running his fingers through Frank’s dark hair, knowing well that the younger would definitely fall back to sleep in no time. He himself also shut his eyes from how comfortable it felt to finally have Frank in his arms.

They both soon fell asleep, their bodies hugging each-other as they shared body warmth. This time, Frank’s nose wasn’t cold when it was pressed up against Gerard’s chest.
