Summary
It was a truce, as much as it was a relationship, but it settled between the two of you more easily than anticipated. You had never been good at leaving things well enough in the past, but with her, somehow it was easy enough to move on, to accept things that might have otherwise sounded absurd. Like beginning a relationship by accepting the inevitability that your partner would lie to you, would keep secrets, would manipulate you.
You didn't mind. Nothing about your life had been anything but absurd, why should your relationship have been any different? Her secrets were her own, her lies were to protect - either you or herself - and you understood her well enough by now to trust that she had good reason. Some things were better to let slide. Some uncomfortable questions were better left unspoken.
Some truths were better left buried.
