words have meaning, and they hurt

they hurt for years, and stick with you even when you try and forget

they linger

That's what years of hurt and bullying will do to you, will tell you things about yourself even if it wasn’t true, beat you down again and again, till you're so weak you can barely stand, and then leave you to build yourself up again. Alone

Sonar preferred to to think to much about his school time

or when he lived with his parents

or his many foster care parents

or the years he spent on the streets

he just tried to focus on the future, think positively

He was happy where he was, on the Z team with a second chance after all the shit he had gone through. and he was thankful

so why was he now in an argument with Flambae, why he doesn’t even remember what had led up to this. But still he was saying things he didn’t mean

“I didn’t do shit, fuck you” Sonar spat out, “Yes you did you stupid rat” Flambae snapped back, a fire trickling over his shoulders, clearly pissed off. “I didn’t touch your things” Sonar said again

“yes you little thief, nasty *mutt*” Flamebe roared, and slammed his fist into the wall, leaving a dent, and then he stormed out

Sonar stared into the wall, the dent and the slight burn around it.

his ears were ringing, and he could almost hear his heart beating in his ears. His body was trembling, and he could feel the tears soaking his fur

his body moved on its own, sitting down under the table in the breakroom. He pulled his knees to his chest, and buried his face in his arms, letting the tears flow freely

the word still echoed in his brain **mutt** it hurts, it always hurt.
it hurt back in kindergarten when no one wanted to play with him, or sit next to him
it hurt when he was bullied in school, and beaten up on the playground after school
it hurt when people would mutter it under their breath, when they walked past him

words have meaning, and they hurt

the will always hurt
