Work Text:
"I'm going to do it today!" Jisung announces, finishing his make-up and getting up from where he was sitting in front of the mirror. "I planned everything! We will hang out all together, have fun, loosen up and then I will find some excuse to leave with him and boom! Confession across the sea~ So romantic…" Jisung says, sighing dreamily.
"Yeah, sure buddy." Hyunjin rolls his eyes, taking Jisung's previous place to start his own make-up.
"I will! I'm so ready for this time." Jisung says with a pout on his face, determined.
"Let me open my notes to see how many times you said this!" Hyunjin rolls his eyes, actually taking his phone to check.
Minho softly kicks Hyunjin's hand to make him drop the device and receives a cold glare while going to Jisung's side to pinch his cheeks. "Aren't you the cutest?" Minho coos shaking the boy's head side to side before leaving him alone. "And Hyunjin, don't mess with the baby!"
"We are literally the same age!" He huffs, turning to mirror again. "I can't believe this favoritism!"
"And you have Changbin hyung licking the floor you walk. Do I say something about that?" Jisung mumbles sitting on the edge of his bed.
Hyunjin sighs with that. "He was doing that… Now he will lick that Seungmin guy's face."
Minho makes a surprised from where he is trying to get into the jeans Jisung gave. "Did they finally get their shit together? It was getting embarrassing to watch their courting every single time."
"Yeah… I'm afraid they are going to be even more insufferable…"
"Not more than me and Chan hyung."
"You have to first grow some balls for that Ji." Hyunjin tells nonchalantly, picking his brush.
Jisung yells at him before grabbing the closest thing to him, which happens to be his pillow, and throws it to Hyunjin's back.
"Yah!" Hyunjin screams back, his cheek now supporting a wiggly black line instead of a slick eyeliner on his lids. "You little—" He starts, standing up quickly to catch the already running man.
"Oh my god we are going to be late again." Minho groans, dropping himself back to the bed with his fly and button open, screams echoing the whole house.
🍾
They arrive late.
The others were already there as Minho pushes the still quarreling duo inside a little meanly. "Chan is there." He says to the shorter man in hopes of him stopping. It works thankfully.
Jisung immediately scans the place, first finding Felix's blond hair before his gaze locks with the oldest. He gives him a shy smile, turning to Minho after receiving one back. Those dimples might be the death of him one of these days. "Hyung…" He whines. "How am I going to do?" The courage that came to him at home already left his veins, chest started beating faster than it's normal pace with his anxiety.
"I'm gon' do it tonight." Hyunjin mocks his earlier words and just before Jisung snarls and jumps on him, Minho gives Hyunjin a slap on the back of his head. "Okay okay stop." Hyunjin grunts, rubbing the hurt spot. "Let's get you a drink to loosen up." He takes Jisung's hand but Minho holds them both before they can go.
"Jisung aren't you lightweight? Are sure about that?"
"Hyung, that was ages ago. I'm sure I'm way better now." Jisung says, already can't stay in on place, stepping side to side. "Plus, I won't drink too much. Just to relax and maybe become tipsy." He smiles sheepishly.
"That's not how it works! And how do you know how much—"
"Oh come on, don't be a party-popper hyung!" Hyunjin complains with Jisung nodding enthusiastically next to him, swaying their connected hands, like they weren't at each other's throat just a second ago.
Minho pokes his cheek with his tongue, staring at the two irritated. "Do whatever you want okay? But don't call me to come get you when you get shitfaced. You know I need to leave early tonight." He turns towards their friends' table and stomps away.
Jisung looks after him conflicted, but goes with Hyunjin anyway when he pulls him to the bar. "Don't worry… Everything will be fine!"
🍾
"Hello everyone~" Hyunjin charmingly greets everyone, pushing Jisung next to Chan before sitting beside him. They might argue time to time, okay, a lot, but he has his back, Jisung thinks as he smiles to his friends before turning towards Chan who was already looking at him.
"Hi hyung." Jisung says, one hand doesn't leave his drink as if even the coldness of the glass against his skin is giving enough of an encouragement like it's contents.
"Hi Sung-ah." Chan softly says, eyes giving a tour almost every feature around his face, causing Jisung to wiggle on his seat, before landing on his drink, furrowing a little. "I thought you didn't like drinking?"
Damn his observant, beautiful, ass, why does he have to remember everything he said? "Oh, just, it was a stressful day, I kind of need to wind down."
"We can find other things to have you relaxed if you want, you don't need alcohol for that Jisung." Chan says looking genuinely worried for him that Jisung feels bad choking on his first sip after hearing it, and with the things flashed behind his eyes. He definitely needs to confess as soon as possible and have this man on him. Or under him, it really doesn't matter anymore. "You good?" Chan asks worriedly, patting his back.
"Yeah, yeah." Jisung says after he feels like he can breath. "I don't really dislike drinking, I just hate the hangover that comes the next day actually. But I'm not planning to go that far today." The only thing that will come with him home tonight will be Chan, hopefully.
Or not. He doesn't know, he may think a little too fast. Chan looks like a gentleman who won't kiss before the 3rd date or something.
Jisung really hopes that's not the case.
"Okay but be careful then please."
"I will hyungie! Don't worry."
🍾
The group first congratulate the new couple sincerely before it eventually evolves into teasing. They poke around until Changbin laughs out loud doubling down while the look Seungmin throws at them becomes full of venom, but they can also see the redness on top of his ears so they show some mercy and leave them alone after a while.
Then the chat turns into smaller groups so Jisung turns to Chan. They talk about anything and everything. It is always too easy to fall in an endless and enjoyable chat with Chan that Jisung is always in awe. It's almost like they share a brain and heart.
This night is not an exception. They start talking about the new couple privately, Jisung tells the other how disgusting they are and Chan disagrees with him saying they are actually really cute but Jisung doesn't burst his bubble saying how he thinks they will be cuter. Then they jump to work, what they are listening to these days and much more unrelated topics. It's nice and Jisung enjoys it but he somehow doesn't feel relaxed. Relaxed enough to do what he is planning.
He drank two whole glasses of beer but still feels as tense as metal wire except from a little dizziness so when Chan goes to the restrooms and Hyunjin gets up with the others for a dance, he tugs the taller's shirt to make him lean towards him. "Can you get me something a little stronger Jinnie?"
Hyunjin doesn't immediately nod and goes to buy something, instead looks at him worriedly. "That was already too much for you, Jisung…"
"But I'm still too nervous! Please just one more. You know beer is too light." He begs, looking up at him with a pout and widening his eyes, hoping to be cute enough to get him fold.
"Last one." Hyunjin says, looking at him with a serious face and leaves after Jisung nods eagerly.
🍾
He buys Jisung some type of a creamy liqueur.
It tastes good he is not going to deny that, but he also knows it's not that stronger than a beer. So puts his empty bottle frustrated, while thinking ways to get another one without drawing any attention.
"Jisung?" He startles when he feels cool fingers against his heating cheeks. "Are you okay? You're all flushed." Chan says in worry, his hand then coming up to his forehead.
Jisung gulps, Chan is too close. His hands feels too good against his skin and it'd be too easy to just lean in, close that small distance and take those plump lips between his. But no, he needs to confess for that. The thing he had been postponing for weeks.
He spends too much of his energy to tear his eyes from the pouty lips to look up to Chan's eyes. "Want to dance?" He asks, licking his lips. Maybe some skin-ship would help.
Chan's eyes follows his tongue's movement not so subtly before nodding dazedly.
They stay a little away from their friends, Jisung throwing his hands on older's shoulders, and wrapping Chan's hesitant ones around his waist. Their little chat once again evolve into something so silly Jisung starts to panic because this is not how the night supposed to go, so he dances around with him a little more before asking if he'd want to walk around then split to their houses.
Even if Chan is surprised with the quick change of scenes, he doesn't show it, just accepts the offer and goes to take their jackets. While Jisung beelines for bar to buy one last drink before they leave. He does feel it's working, his body is a lot looser than when they arrived. So one last drink would totally solve everything.
Well, at least he hopes.
They get to the beach walking in silence and taking in the peaceful air. Jisung feels his body weighing down and thinks the stress is finally catching up to him so he asks to sit a little.
Jisung closes his eyes, feeling the cool breeze against his body and thinks this is a great time to do the 'talk' right now. He feels too light and the environment is almost as good as he imagined. He can just turn around, take Chan's hands between his while saying the 3 magic words and they can start their own story immediately.
If Chan returns his feelings of course.
He feels his head swaying, answers Chan's questions with little hums while thinking how he should start, he closes his eyes again and slowly the noises quietens down.
🍾
"Jisung?" Chan asks when he feels the younger's head on his shoulder. He doesn't get an answer and when he leans down, he is faced with Jisung's closed eyes, slightly ajar lips which are puckered due to resting against his shoulder. "Did you really fall asleep?" He asks surprised, voice low despite can't really believing him.
Jisung doesn't reply and Chan laughs shaking his head to the situation.
He sits back, taking out his hand that got squeezed between them to wrap around Jisung protectively as he calls for a taxi.
And if he watched Jisung's pretty face without a blink until the cab arrived, no one has to know.
🍾
Chan manages to put the sleepy man inside the taxi, slipping beside him. He puts Jisung's head back to seat carefully, whose cheeks somehow still as red as it was when they were at the bar that Chan has to grab his own pants to not poke them. His permed long locks are slightly tussled now after their visit to beach and Chan thinks it's unfair to look this beautiful even sleeping.
He jumps when hears a throat clearing. "Sir, are you going to tell me where we are going or do you want me to circle around a little more?" The driver asks, looking at him from the rear-view window.
Chan sputters over his words as he gives Jisung's address, making himself small beside the younger, knowing fully well his neck is as red as Jisung's cheeks right now.
🍾
"I messed it up, didn't I?"
Chan startles with the voice and sees Jisung's eyes opened slightly, turning away from him to stare ahead emptily.
"I should've listened to you hyung…" Jisung whines then.
"Jisung? We are going to your home."
"Home?" Jisung giggles but Chan can see the pained expression of the other. "Great… I really couldn't do it. Again."
Chan really doesn't know what the other was going on about so he just lets him ramble at the end.
"I really love him hyung. So much I can't stand it anymore." Jisung mumbles, voice getting shaky at the end while his eyes are getting more shiny.
He loves someone?, Chan thinks bitterly, can't take his eyes from the younger. Of course he would, someone as full of life as him of course would have someone in his heart. "Jisung I think you should rest." Chan says, knowing fully well he shouldn't hear these.
"You are sick of listening too right? I'm sorry." Jisung says, sniffing. "I was really ready to do it today. The beach was a perfect scene. The weather, stars, moon…"
Chan then freezes. Is he… Is he really talking about him? That have to be coincidence right?
"I shouldn't drank that last glass. I always overestimate my tolerance." Jisung mumbles, drying his cheeks with the back of his hand. "When did you come to pick me up? Did Channie hyung call you to get me?" He asks turning towards him, squinting his eyes. They took his glasses off before getting into the cab, Chan was scared he'd find a way to break it and injure himself somehow.
"Uhm Jisung, I am—"
"Ugh, doesn't matter. He is probably glad now that he got rid off me. Thankful that he didn't have to take care of my whiny ass." He pouts.
"Jisung, I'm not who you think I am. Channie hyung is here." He says looking at the younger partly amused, partly worried.
"Yah! He is my Channie hyung. You don't get to call him that!" Jisung fires up, crossing his arms and looking at him upset.
"Oh is that so?" Chan says, grinning like a fool, really liking the way things took a turn.
Maybe, Chan thinks, just maybe Jisung might be talking about him, his chest getting full with giddiness.
"Yeah." Jisung says dismissively. "Anyway, you and Jinnie insist that he probably feel the same way but even if he was I'm sure he doesn't anymore. Who would like someone who gets floored after a few glasses?"
"Maybe someone as lightweight as you?" Chan giggles.
"Don't make sense right now, I need to wallow in pity." Jisung counteracts, looking at him with a angry face but only thing that wakes in Chan is just how adorable he looks.
"Okay okay sorry. Go on then." Chan says giving up from interfering, and leans back to watch the boy fondly. He didn't know Jisung's sight was this bad, to the degree of not recognising the person sitting next to him, but something in him tells he wouldn't be able to notice he isn't Minho anyway even if he was wearing his glasses.
"I wasn't going to listen anyway…" Jisung sighs, getting comfortable back to the seat. "What was I saying?"
"That if Chan is—"
"Oh right… You said he helps me with everything and he is too kind but… Isn't that how he is as a person? He helps everyone? I don't think he has a single cell in him that is inherently bad." Jisung says, pouting.
"I'm not that good, Sungie…" Chan says fluttered but knowing fully well it's not true.
"I know you are not. We aren't talking about you? Keep up hyung…"
Chan rubs his face, laughing with the ridiculousness. "Sorry."
It's silent for a while that Chan thinks Jisung got tired of talking but then he hears him hum. "Do you remember my first attempt?" He giggles. "I invited him to my house to—" He makes air quotes before carrying on, "Show off my album collection, and you said how much more obvious can I be that I want to bed him."
"Jisung don't—" Chan starts, stealing glances to the driver, but it's like Jisung doesn't even register his voice, continuing where he left.
"I don't know what was I thinking… I still become a flustering mess when I try to flirt with him and thought it was a good idea to confess the first time I invited him to my house."
Chan remembers the day, how excited he got, like a teenager who got asked by his crush, and how much Jisung prepared for a simple hang out or how fun the day was. He guesses he didn't notice how on edge Jisung was with his own nervousness.
"And, oh my god, the second one? You should have insist it was a bad idea to do at a company gathering." Jisung whines. "I made a fool of myself for the whole day, pulling hyung station to station for the perfect place but chickened out every time."
The picnic Jisung's company planned which Changbin invited him to.
Chan was excited to spend the day with his friends, and to see Jisung of course. He thought he'd just sit on some table, chat here and there and watch people go around with their things, but Jisung, like he just said it himself, spent almost the whole day with him. Chan was confused why Jisung was making him tail himself everywhere he went when all of his close friends were also there but now it makes sense. He swears to himself for being too aloof and not noticing anything.
Changbin might be right about him being too oblivious.
"And all the times I invited him out…" Jisung sighs. "Every time, every single time, I started the sentence with the intention of making it a date but couldn't utter the word out and it always ended up being a normal hang out…"
Chan looks at him both with his heart fluttering and aching because of the suffering the other had gone through. If he could've been a little more attentive…
While Chan is busy tearing himself down as Jisung continues with something completely irrelevant to his attempts, the car stops and driver tells Chan that they've arrived. So he pays, gets out of the car and goes to Jisung's side to help him out.
"Hyung… Don't want to go." Jisung whines trying to get out of his arms.
"Weren't you sleepy just 15 minutes ago?" Chan complains, wrapping one of his arms around Jisung's ridiculously tiny waist, and pulls him towards the building.
"The weather is nice, can't we sleep outside?" Jisung says but his fight decreased too much, Chan thinks he must be really tired now.
"We can go out to balcony if you help me now, hm?"
Thankfully, Jisung cooperates after that but he is like a baby deer learning to walk, and can't really carry his own weight so after a few stairs, so Chan just grabs the younger in bridal style.
"Oh hyungie… When did you become this strong?" Jisung sleepily says before Chan feels his hands squeeze around his muscles. "Do you think Channie hyung is bigger than you?"
"I don't think so." Chan wheezes out, trying to not whine with the younger's wandering touch.
"His biceps are huge. I touched it once and didn't want to let go but I had to at the end. Y'know," He rolls his eyes, making gestures with his hands. "—to not look like a creep or anything."
Chan looks at him surprised. "When did you do that?"
"He was yapping about something and I laughed hitting his arm, but then couldn't help the urge to just squeeze it." Jisung sighs remembering the moment.
"How did I not notice that?"
"Why would you notice it hyung?" Jisung tsks, hands now on Chan's shoulders while Chan fixes his hold, leaning by the wall to take a breath a little. "Are you tired?" Jisung rolls his eyes, completely unimpressed. "I bet Chan hyung can take me up there with a single breath."
"I think you are exaggerating now…" Chan huffs out a laugh.
"And I think you are jealous now…" Jisung immediately replies back, putting his head on his shoulder that Chan thinks he hopefully is getting ready to sleep. "Do you think he would choke me with his—"
Chan coughs on his own saliva while Jisung slowly pats his back to help. "I think you should stop there, wasn't it enough Chan talk for today?" He asks with a red face, breath labored.
"Oh so it's okay for you to drool over Jeongin but too much when I do it?" Jisung asks offended.
Minho and Jeongin? Wow, Chan thinks, he totally wouldn't expect from that poker face of his to just yap about someone to his friend. But then again, he also couldn't distinguish that Jisung's attention was not platonic at all. "Do you remember your password?" Chan asks to now calmed down man when they finally manage to get there without any injury.
Thankfully Jisung enters it a without a fuss. Chan takes his shoes off by the door carelessly, stops just before he goes into the younger's room and instead continues down the hall and puts Jisung onto his small bathroom counter. Jisung looks at him confused, tilting his head and Chan squeals with his cuteness.
"Don't look at me like that, please." Chan begs, before taking Jisung's brush with tootpaste squeezed onto and hands it to him. But Jisung just stares at him with half lids so Chan sighs, pushing the brush against Jisung's teeth. "Like this, Sungie. Can you do it?" He softly asks, though Jisung only shakes his head and parts his lips more. Chan shakes his head huffing a laugh and goes on brushing the younger's teeth as good as he can.
After they are finished, Chan gives him a glass of water, waits for him to empty it then picks him up again and places him on his bed carefully. He removes Jisung's shoes and jacket off and looks at the man. He is about to fall asleep, again, hair messier than before, shirt too wrinkly and his pants doesn't really look comfortable but Chan unfortunately can't do anything about them. He just hopes his sleep is deep enough to make it through the night. He takes the comforter from the other side of the bed and covers Jisung neatly, fixes his head's position on the pillow, and before he can't stop himself, his hands are between Jisung's hair. He gently threads the soft locks, clearing his face from them.
Chan can give everything he owns to kiss that forehead right now, but no, he can't.
Tomorrow, he promises to himself before straightening his back but can't move away when Jisung's hand catches his shirt.
"Hyung…" Jisung whispers. "Don't go…"
"But Jisung—"
"Hyung please…" Jisung begs with a weak voice and Chan is already convinced. He sits beside the younger, leaning back to the headboard with his hand between Jisung's. He will wait for him to fall asleep and leave, he thinks, closing his eyes, with the feeling of Jisung turning towards him.
Chan has been down bad for Jisung since the moment he saw him stumble his way through the cafe Changbin brought him to meet some of his other friends from work. Jisung was late, like most of the time, uttering apologies profusely, his cheeks as red as they were like just a few hours ago with the running, and probably embarrassment, hair a little shorter than now but still magnificent as always, looking so beautiful, that there was no other option for Chan other than crushing for him, hard.
Their friend groups were merging slowly but surely that Chan more often than not found himself in a gathering with seven others, and Jisung right next to him each time. The two found out they have too much in common that spending time with the other was like a gentle breeze among all the chaos of their lives. So it was not much longer before Chan felt himself falling for him and he was scared. What he had with Jisung was too precious to ruin with his inappropriate feelings so he had just buried them and stuck with what could he have.
But he should've tried, he learned with the drunk Jisung today. The guy is literally head over heels for him as much as Chan is for Jisung and Chan still can't belive how he didn't notice anything with how obvious Jisung had been.
And he kind of feels guilty, thinks if he had tried harder, maybe he could've stop the man before he gushed about Chan, to Chan, but it's done, and he is happy. He was ready to live with the feelings cast aside somewhere inside him so hearing all the things the other tried is enough to burst Chan's chest with how elated he got.
Chan shakes his head. Jisung feels the same, he repeats to himself again and again with a content smile on his face until tiredness also pulls him in.
🍾
Jisung wakes up with his head pounding, body uncomfortable in whatever he has on, and inside of his mouth tasting like trash. Groaning, he opens his eyes, but it takes a lot to clear his vision. He is in his room, and it's bright meaning it's morning? He looks down to see he is in his outside clothes and furrows. Why did he…?
He sits up quickly with the memories rushing back to him. He remembers leaving the bar with Chan. Then, he is in the taxi talking to… Minho? When did Chan go and Minho came? Didn't Minho say he would leave early? Why did he came? Was Chan that repulsed by his drunk self that he had to call Minho?
He gets up all sulky, washes his face, brushes his teeth to freshen a bit then pads to kitchen slowly where he can hear some utensils. Minho likes to cook for them, but not this early so Jisung is a little skeptical. He stops dead on his tracks when his gaze lands on Chan's built frame instead of Minho's lithe one.
Chan turns, greeting him with a good morning. He has Jisung's bright red apron on that reads 'Sausage anyone?' with an arrow below it, a gag gift from Hyunjin, and Jisung really hopes Chan didn't lift the excess fabric sewed just above where his belly is. Under the apron, he still has his tank top and baggy jeans from yesterday. Jisung tries to force his brain to think if anything happened but there is nothing except Minho who brought him here… Wasn't that… Minho?
Chan sees the emotions pass through the younger's face and sighs. "Why don't we eat and then talk?"
"What happened..? I thought I came here with—"
"I brought you here, we didn't see Minho after leaving the bar." Chan says, looking apologetically. He sighs again with Jisung's even bigger eyes. "Let's eat please."
🍾
Chan prepared a feast.
Jisung doesn't want to think how long the other was awake for, because these must have taken a lot of time. He is also sure he didn't have most of the ingredients for these meals in his fridge so Chan must have buy some grocery too. And Jisung can't understand why. So he just tries to enjoy as much as he can with all the confusion, and thanks the older when he gives him an anti-hangover drink.
"This was kind of an apology for you actually." Chan starts after they are almost done and Jisung stops playing with the last crumbs on his plate. "I heard some things I really shouldn't have."
"Oh my god." Jisung breathes out. He was still hoping that all the ramblings were just some kind of delusional thinking of his. "I really told those to you? It wasn't a dream?"
"I'm sorry… I tried to stop you but you were so sure of me being Minho and just venting out, I couldn't do it."
Jisung feels his face heats up, eyes and nose burn. "I'm sorry." He chokes up. "Fuck I'm so sorry, I must have made you too uncomfortable."
"Of course you didn't! Do you think I'd have stayed if I was?" Chan says in panic, coming to sit beside him and taking Jisung's hands between both of his. "And I'm the one in fault here. You said all those, thinking Minho but…"
"That was my own stupidness." Jisung mumbles, looking down at their intertwined fingers. This is it, he thinks. When he was planning to do something cool and special, he went and confessed while he wasn't even right in his mind. "Sorry for all the hassle and, and all the things I had… said…"
"You have nothing to be sorry for, I wasn't supposed to—"
"How long are we going to apologize?" Jisung laughs wetly, taking his hands from the others even though it hurts to leave that warmness. "I don't know why you didn't leave but, you don't have to stay more."
"Want to go on a date?" Chan blurts out before Jisung can even finish his sentence and Jisung's eyes turn sharp. "If you're free today—"
"That's really low, hyung. Really…" Jisung says with straight face and an angry tone, Chan knows he messed up. "I don't need your pity date."
"It's not that!" Chan raises his voice in panic. He started all wrong. "I like you too." Then he scoffs. "Like…" He shakes his head, coming to kneel beside Jisung. "I love you, Jisung. I've been falling for you for months now, but I didn't want to ruin what we have. Because it was just too wishful thinking that you are reciprocating my feelings."
"Hyung… Are you serious?" Jisung asks, in disbelief.
"Yes…" Chan lowers his gaze feeling shy, while Jisung stares at him in shock.
"For months…" Jisung breathes out, eyes wide. "Oh my god we could've been living together by now but we are just starting. All because of you!"
"Because of me?" Chan sputters, voice high. "You listed all the times you—"
Jisung squints his eyes, looking down at the other threateningly enough for Chan to stop and gulp. "Do you want to go on that date or not?"
"I… I do." Chan answers scared, and slightly aroused.
"Then go get ready to pick me up by 6!" Jisung finally grins with the state of his hyung who gets up hastily, stands there a little like he doesn't know what to do next before moving to take the apron off with a growing smile. But he stops just after he unties the back of it.
"Um…" Chan starts, his hand coming down to his middle and Jisung's smile freezes on his face. "Can you first tell me why do you have…" Chan then lifts the front part of the apron. "…this?" Revealing the ugly graphic of a hairy cock.
The sausage.
Jisung knows he is beet red as he rips the apron off him and pushes towards the door as the older starts laughing loudly. "Get out before I change my mind!" Jisung yells, both knowing fully well he doesn't mean it in the slightest.
