Summary
with the new honmoon, everything should be fine, normal. sure the demons were scarier, pumped out of stammering tears, bodies crushed and wheezing and when they puncture them their bodies squelched in a mass of black, smoking blood before they burbled out into nothing. sure their job wasn't truly done for some reason. and sure zoey's body felt too small, like her skin was spandex, choking around something that lived inside of her. like if she gave into the impulse, she could just pull back her thinning skin, tuck a nail under an old scar indent somewhere on her wrist and peel until she could grow. sure, sure that wasn't a normal thought--and sure the new honmoon wasn't helping those not-normal thoughts, accommodating to the bigness instead of crushing it like it used to. and zoey just wanted to be normal. she wanted everything to be normal even as she disappeared into her notes, pulled away from her girls, and hunger licked her teeth. zoey just wanted to be a good girl.
