Work Text:

Jazz looked around at the friends gathered in their house–their own, built to the specs he and Prowl had given the builders, freestanding house–and smiled. He still wasn’t sure how he felt about the black trim and accents, but with the furniture and all their friends filling the main room, he barely noticed it. It wasn’t ‘home’ yet, but it definitely felt like it was theirs. And in a way no place ever had before.

“This recliner is divine,” Optimus said idly, as he relaxed into the chair they had commissioned specifically for him. “And I would know.”

That set the rest of their friends to laughing. And Prowl, relaxed in a way he rarely got to be, joked back, “I am glad to hear it, we had it blessed just for you.”

Optimus laughed then, a warm boom that filled the whole house.

“This is really great,” Bluestreak added, as he squished himself onto the sofa between Ratchet and Sunstreaker. “Where did you guys get the furniture? Cause I think I want a couch like this in my apartment.”

“The furniture is bespoke,” Prowl replied, handing him a drink. “Our combined finances gave us enough to have everything customized, so we did.”

“And my backpay would probably cover a few pieces, too.” Blue nodded as he took the drink. “Shoot me the name of your designer before I leave, will you?”

“You look happy.” The voice, right next to his audial, made Jazz jump. He couldn’t believe he hadn’t heard Mirage sneak up, because the party wasn’t that loud, but the former noble had managed to get the drop on him in his own house. “Apologies. My stealth mods were still running. Hound and I were tagging Lilleths before the party.”

“Well, that makes me feel a little better.” Jazz laughed softly. “Thought I was losing my edge.”

“Would that be so bad, now that the war is over?”

“Yes,” jazz replied, “But only until me an' Prowl both retire for real. No time for getting soft when we’re teaching the next generation of top spies and tacticians.”

“Professor Jazz was not someone I thought I would ever see.” Mirage smiled and patted his shoulder. “But it looks good on you. I am glad the you and Prowl have found fulfillment in this new world.”

“Yeah, me too.” Jazz grinned. Then he was prevented from saying anything else by a crash, the sound of breaking glass and Sideswipe cursing in their kitchen. “And now that the new floors have been broken in, I better go help clean up. Tell me more about the Lilleths later!”

“Jazz, I am so sorry!” Sideswipe said immediately as he stepped into the kitchen. “I didn’t–”

“Ain’t a thing.” Jazz reached for the broom to sweep up the shards of the faux crystal pitcher they had just bought yesterday. But this was why they’d picked recyclable glass and not actual cut crystals. “It ain’t really a housewarming if something don’t get broke.”
