A game of chess

Summary:

Percy and Alfred play chess

Notes:

Day 13: board games

Work Text:

Percy quite liked Alfred.

He reminded him a lot of Chiron in a way.

One of the first things Percy was able to tell when he met Alfred was that he had spent his time in the mortal realm, but it didn’t stop him. Percy got the feeling it was a bit like Chiron in the way that he will stay on earth until there is no one else that needs his help, and from what Percy had heard about the entire Wayne family, it wasn’t going to be happening for a while.

Also, Alfred understood that Percy was not talking, and he never pushed for him to talk.

It made Percy smile just enough, enough for Jason to know he didn’t mind it there. This proved helpful when Jason got another call from one of his workers, and he had to answer it.

Alfred smiled at Jason as he left the room, and the library they found themselves sitting in was quiet before Alfred asked, “Would you like to play a game of chess?”

After a moment, Percy agreed, and Alfred smiled, moving to grab a chessboard and set it up between he two of them.

The game went on quietly, Alfred not minding and actually finding that Percy was a good challenge against him when it came to chess.

Jason stepped back in 5 minutes later and smiled softly at his boyfriend and grandfather playing a game of chess.

In the end, the game ended in a draw, and Alfred praised Percy for his work in the game.
