You're jealous?! I'm jealous!

Summary:

After taking care of a side mission in Hyperspace Lumiose, Yumi's jealousy hits her hard. Luckily, a friend gives a push in the right direction.

Notes:

No major spoilers, but I put it in the tags just in case. Also, this was meant to be a sequel fic to one where the characters celebrate Yumi's birthday. Hence why the birthday is mentioned. Ironically, I'm posting this on the birthday I chose for Yumi (December 14th). So...oh well. Anyways, hope you enjoy.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Yumi really didn't know what to expect when entering that rift in Racine Construction. And after learning that Hyperspace Lumiose seems to reflect the subconscious and memories, what she witnessed only made her heart break more. Yes, it technically wasn't real. But it did show real thoughts and emotions. At first, she was confused when seeing both Tarragon and Canari. Even more so when Naveen showed up. After all, Corbeau said that Hyperspace Lumiose gets unstable when more than three people enter. But then she realized that it was just the Hyperspace versions of them (even though she genuinely thought Naveen followed her inside).

But what she heard them say, seeing Naveen's thoughts and feelings, really did hurt. Yes, she's aware that Naveen's feelings for Canari is just a celebrity crush. But sometimes, it feels like it's more than that. And the fact that they're jealous of her for talking with Canari a lot, just makes her jealousy burn. They're jealous?! Well then she's green with envy! No, maybe not green. But yellow or blue don't sound as good. But the point still stands! It didn't help that he was frantically searching for the Canari plush that SHE gave to them. She really was losing it if she's getting jealous of a plushie.

At first she thought it was silly, but here she was. Still, she couldn't let this jealousy get in the way of important work. But first, she had a delivery to make. Arriving back at Hotel Z, she saw Ansha, Lida, and Naveen chatting away. Hoopa seemed to be showing their new Gulpin friend its rings. Though they all turned to her once they heard the door. "Oh, did you need more doughnuts?" Ansha asked with a smile. Yumi smiled back, feeling a bit better seeing her innocent smile. "No, I actually have something for Naveen." Yumi responded. Causing the fashion designer to look up.

"For me?" They asked in surprise. Yumi nods as she hands them the carefully packaged Canari bread. Naveen's eyes immediately widened and sparkled. Immediately, they snatched it out of Yumi's hands. "Wow...how'd you get this? They're always sold out whenever I try to buy one! Did...Canari give it to you?" Yumi immediately shook her head. "No. I just got lucky there was one left in stock when I bought it." She said. Naveen stared for a moment before smiling down at the Canari bread. "I'll be sure to treasure it." Naveen said as they admired the Canari bread in their hands.

"Don't you think you should eat the bread? Plus, you need to thank Yumi too!" Lida says as she crosses her arms. "IT'S NOT BREAD!!! IT'S CANARI BREAD!!!" Naveen exclaims as Yumi feels that familiar jealousy. "It's fine Lida. I have to get going anyway. I'll be back later for more doughnuts Ansha." Yumi says as she pats the girl's head. "Ok Yumi! Bye bye!" Ansha says as she waves Yumi good bye. Lida watches sadly as her friend leaves. She's well aware of Yumi's feelings for both Urbain and Naveen. But Urbain is oblivious, and Naveen is too obsessed with Canari to see the pain they cause her.

It hurts her to see Yumi push away her own feelings for the sake of others. Whether it be focusing on the crisis currently happening, going around helping others, or even simply not wanting to ruin the group's friendship or dynamics. It's not only hurting her mentally, but also physically. She focuses so much on others, that she never takes care of herself. Soji did explain that it's hard for her to break these habits. As when they were growing up, Yumi was forced to grow up at a young age to support him after their parents died. And no one in the orphanage cared for them and they were treated like outcasts.

It hurts Lida to know she's currently in pain, but refuses help. To make matters worse, it was her birthday yesterday. She looked so happy to celebrate it, yet today, she looked so sad. However, Lida refuses to stand by any longer. She had to do something before Yumi breaks. Luckily, Urbain walked in to get more doughnuts. "Naveen, can you watch Ansha?" Lida asked, startling Naveen out of his daze. "Uh, sure?" They say in slight confusion. Once both were in the kitchen, Lida turned to Urbain with a serious look. "Urbain, can I talk with you upstairs?" She asks.

"Sure? I have to wait for the doughnuts anyways." Urbain says with a grin. Lida nods as they both enter the elevator. Lida knows that this was risky, but she was doing this for Yumi. She can't be positive on how Naveen feels about Yumi, so Urbain seems like the best place to set things in motion. Once the elevator stopped, they both stepped off and entered Lida's room. Once the door was closed, she turned to Urbain. "I'm getting straight to the point cause I can't stand this any longer!" Lida says as she runs her hand through her bang. Urbain seemed surprised and confused by the serious atmosphere.

"Is everything ok? You seem tense." Urbain said as he crossed his arms. His brow furrowed in concern. 'No going back now.' Lida thought as she took a breath. "Yumi loves you." Lida bluntly says. Giving a moment to let the info sink in. Then, Urbain's eyes widened. "WHAT?!" He yelled as his face turned bright pink. Lida quickly shushed him, but couldn't stop Urbain's influx of questions. "What do you mean she loves me?! How long have you known this?! Does anyone else know?!" Lida had to, lightly, smack Urbain to stop his rambling. "Ow..." He whined, rubbing the side of his head.

"I'd say the only ones who aren't aware of her feelings are you and Naveen. She loves you both so much, yet neither of you can see that. Haven't you noticed how she acts differently around you two?!" Lida exclaimed loudly. "Didn't you just hit me for being too loud?" Urbain pouted. After taking a moment to recover, and to think, he said what was on his mind. "Now that you mention it, she invited me to the Sushi High Roller. But looked oddly disappointed when I brought everyone. She also hugged me and cried when the incident with Ange Floette was over. Soji also told me she cried when she told you both the news." Urbain said.

Then, it really did hit him. Yumi really was in love with him. At first, he thought those incidents were just a sign of their strong friendship. But now, being aware of Yumi's feelings, it recontextualizes everything. Now, he had to think of how he felt in return. Then, he needs to consider Yumi's feelings for Naveen as well. He's aware that Yumi's Polyamorous, and he's cool with it. As far as he's aware, Naveen hasn't shown any kind of romantic interest in her. So, if Naveen doesn't feel the same as her, can he really fulfill Yumi's desires by himself? Because her heart definitely has enough love for both him and Naveen.

But first, how did he feel? He definitely cares for her, and he loves seeing her smile. During his time working as CEO, he found himself missing her company. His sister had to snap him out of a daze occasionally. He also feels excited to be working together with her again. Plus she's kind, sweet, cute, and...oh Arceus. Urbain felt his cheeks grow hot. He loves her too, and didn't realize it until now. Lida smirks as she watched Urbain's internal processing. Placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. "I'm glad you came to a realization. You don't have to say anything now, but I know she's been suffering." Lida says calmly.

"And I didn't notice? How could I have been so blind?!" He exclaimed. Feeling disappointed in himself for not noticing the pain that Yumi was in. "But, what about Naveen?" He asked quietly. "Well, I can't really tell what they're feeling. All I know is that they're too focused on Canari to notice Yumi's feelings." Lida says with a sigh. "And even if he wasn't, there's no way for me to know if they would even return her feelings." She added. Urbain clenched a fist. He's not mad at Naveen, but how could they miss the charming girl right in front of them? Making his decision, Urbain rushed out of Lida's room.

Left in her room, Lida smiles faintly. Feeling glad that things were finally going somewhere with those three. Back downstairs, Ansha and Naveen had just come out of the kitchen. "Here are your doughnuts Urbain!" Ansha says happily. Though Naveen notices Urbain's flushed cheeks. "You ok? You're not catching a cold are you?" They ask and step back a bit. "No, but I have another doughnut request." Urbain says and Naveen groans. "Seriously? Canari's stream is about to start soon." Naveen mumbled. "It's only one doughnut, it shouldn't take that long. But...I need it in a heart shape." Urbain says quietly.

Ansha's eyes sparkle eagerly. "Heart shaped? Is it for someone special~?" She teases, causing Naveen to choke on water. Their own cheeks flushing in embarrassment. Urbain scratches the back of his head nervously. "Yes actually." He says, causing Ansha to excitedly return to the kitchen. "H-Hey! Wait!" Naveen exclaims as they quickly follow her. Completely flustered by the situation. Urbain wondered if Ansha was going to make a glazing with some of the berries in stock. After all, she didn't ask for any. Still, there's no time to waste. Pulling out his Rotom phone, he sent out a text.

Yumi pays the taxi driver before watching the taxi speed off. She was beyond exhausted, and wanted to collapse into bed. But before that, Urbain wanted to talk. Compared to earlier, she's had time to cool off her jealousy. So she wouldn't mind talking with him for a few minutes. Entering Hotel Z, she sees that everyone minus her brother, Taunie, and Korrina were here. Urbain immediately turned to her, looking oddly nervous. "What's going on?" She asked as she closed the door. Lida and Ansha smiled with giddiness,  and Naveen just looked flustered.

Urbain steps forward with something in his hands. "Yumi, I'm not good with this kind of thing. But now that I've realized it, I can't hold back anymore. I...I love you. Would you be my partner in more than just battles?" He confesses as he held out a heart shaped doughnut. With a sweet pink glaze. Yumi couldn't help but cry, but they weren't sad tears. No, it was more of an emotional release. Letting free her pain, joy, love, and everything in between. She silently nodded as she took the doughnut, wiping her tears with the back of her hand. "Yes, I will. I loved you for so long." Yumi says before hugging him.

Urbain hugged her back as the others cheered. Hoopa and Gulpin letting out happy cries, Ansha and Lida squealing in delight, and Naveen having a small smile as they clap. Still too embarrassed to do much else. As Yumi split the doughnut with Urbain, her smile seemed brighter than ever.

Even if Naveen never returns her feelings, she's glad at least one of them felt the same. And for now, that's all she needed.

Notes:

Am I the only one who felt hurt by that side quest? Like, he's jealous of us. But I'm like "You're jealous? I'm the one who's jealous with how much you love Canari. Even if it is a celebrity crush!". Idk, maybe it's just me.so, yeah. Maybe I did project a little onto Yumi, but she is very much in love with them both. Might write a sequel to this or not, idk.

Also, don't post spoilers in the comments. I haven't finished the DLC yet.
