"Oh, I have a reservation, actually," Xie Lian said, suddenly remembering the real reason he was there.
"No, you haven't," Hua Cheng's eyebrow rose, and his smile took on a playful amusement that Xie Lian had missed, "I'd remember seeing your name on the list if you did."
"Right," Xie Lian smiled sheepishly, wishing the floor would open up and swallow him when he explained, "That's because it's not under my name. It's under—"
"Your date's name," Hua Cheng nodded slowly, as if the pieces of the puzzle were beginning to fit together, "Right. Obviously, because you're at a fancy restaurant, and you look like that."
"Like what?" Xie Lian looked down at himself, suddenly far more self-conscious than he had been all evening.
"Nothing," Hua Cheng laughed gently, the sound fading as he took a moment to really look at Xie Lian and said, "You look… even better than I remembered."
