Spoon Swap

Summary:

A dull throb in his head was the first thing that greeted Emiliano upon waking up. It was undoubtedly the start of a horrible hangover that he did not want to deal with. He can already hear the laughter and teasing words of his teammates. Last night's Christmas party was definitely one for the history books. Case in point, his hangover.

With a groan, Emi moved to sit up. The joints in his arms popping as he prepared to push himself upright. He had barely made it halfway through the motion before the pair of arms around his middle, that he failed to notice until now, pulled him back against them. Emi's eyes shot open and he tensed.

Who the hell was spooning him?

Notes:

Writing this fic for the ever-so-lovely Ace reminded me how rusty I am lmao. Hope you still enjoy it!

Work Text:

Emi wracked his hungover brain to figure it out. The body pressed against his back was unmistakably smaller. That much was unsurprising. Emi is a rather tall individual, towering over his peers a vast majority of the time. It was a great advantage for his position as a goalkeeper but it made many regular interactions uncomfortable or awkward. A pertinent example being his current situation.

Having Emi as the little spoon instead of the big spoon must be uncomfortable for whoever was behind him. Their arm was looped around his waist, hand resting awkwardly across his stomach like it had reached as far as it could before deciding that was good enough. Whoever it was had clearly tried to spoon him properly and been thwarted by the size difference. The effort and determination made Emi smile a bit. Being the little spoon was actually quite nice albeit the awkwardness of the position.

Now with a small smile on his face, Emi thought about who was behind him for a few moments longer before resigning with a soft huff. This was definitely gearing up to be one of the worst hangovers of his life. He couldn't recall anything about last night. With another huff, Emi decided he'd just gently turn so as to not aggravate his head and look at who was behind him. However, the arm around him tightened again before he moved more than an inch.

"Stop moving," a familiar voice murmured into his back, "You're not getting out of this bed as long as I have a say in it."

Emi froze.

"Leo?"

"Who else?" Leo hummed, planting a gentle kiss to the space between Emi's shoulder blades. "You're thinking too much for someone who got blackout drunk at my Christmas party when he promised not to."

"Sorry love," Emi apologized, the tension draining from him in an instant. "I thought something was very wrong."

"You always jump to the worst when you're hungover."

"I woke up with someone holding me. That's new," Emi said. A slight blush tinged his cheeks pink and he was internally grateful Leo couldn't see it given their current position. He didn't need much more teasing right now.

"You didn't complain earlier."

"I was asleep."

"Doesn't matter," Leo said with a soft chuckle, holding onto Emi tighter as he tried to get up again.

"You're impossible," Emi huffed, feigning upset as he allowed himself to settle back against Leo's chest.

"Love you too. Now go back to sleep," Leo said, punctuating his latter statement with a yawn.

Emi snorted and lightly shook his head, eyes closing despite himself. If this was how his morning was going to go, he could live with it.
