“Do you think I could be redeemed?”
The question lingered in the air.
Charlie contemplated what to answer—yes, she did believe redemption is possible for anyone but is it?
“If you’ll put in the effort to prove that you are capable of being a better person, then yes. You’ll be able to be redeemed.” She hid her hesitant tone by looking at him with confidence.
“Oh, wow,” Vox almost sounded amused. He shook his head. “You said something not stupid for once. I’m impressed, Princess. Good job for not making a fool of yourself.” Of course, still not taken seriously.
“Well, I’d like to stay and chat, but..you know, Dante’s Inferno. Can’t miss it.” He glanced at Angel, his grin grew. “Oh, and Angel?” He said nothing for a few seconds as if letting his words settle in. “I’ll tell Val you said hi.”
Angel’s glare darkened. He hated Valentino’s guts. He hated his business partner too. However, he didn’t say a word—not wanting to create conflict.
But his gaze softened a little when looking over to Charlie. He understands she’s desperate to prove redemption is possible but he’s still mad at her for forcing him to change without him wanting to.
He sighed, approaching the other. “Hey,” he uttered softly. “I’ve been supporting your goal..but ya gotta understand I can’t just change for your sake of proving to Vox.”
“Your words don’t mean anything to him.” He continued, “but that doesn’t mean your words don’t help others.”
“So please, never do that again. Ever. Don’t bring that bastard and prick to this hotel.” His voice slightly cracked, knowing the shit he’ll deal with later.
“Angel,” her gaze filled with regret. “I’m—I’m sorry..I shouldn’t—gah, I’m such a bad friend..” She lowered her head in shame.
“Charlie, it’s okay,” Angel wrapped his arms around her and pulled her into the hug. “I’m glad to help, really, but ya gotta acknowledge that redemption takes time..nobody can fucking be a saint in just a day—unless ya are pentious, I guess.”
She tightens her grip. “Hey, hey—woah..woah—” He pats her head. She lifted her head up, tears swelling her eyes. “It’s, it’s okay, I’m not mad anymore.”
“Whhatsgvehshjssmsm..smnsmsmm..”
“Vagin—Vaggi, hey, could ya take your girlfriend away?” He picked up Charlie and handed her to Vaggi, walking away. “I need to be goin’ right now.”
