Just something I thought up while trying to sleep and getting choked up by my people.

Work Text:

Rumi's voice rose as the Honmoon shimmered, fabric glittering gold, steadily sweeping through the fabric of life. Yes, it had happened. They'd managed to do it, they had turned the Honmoon gold! At last they were safe!

Rumi froze as her patterns tugged at her. She didn't know she'd started to fall backwards. The lights burned bright as the world shifted and images flashed before her eyes.

In every image was a new scene, a still of a life that was and wasn't hers, and everyone had the same two people.

Zoey and Mira, demons, grinning as she stood, arm raised, eyes hooded with affection, patterns proudly on display.

Zoey and Mira, human, a wide smile on Zoey's face, a smaller one on Mira's.

Rumi on the beach watching her girls. Zoey in the water, Mira on the sand.

Zoey, upset, tears, scared. Mira, angry, scared, frustrated. Turning to hug newly uncovered Rumi.

So many broken kisses, laughing and crying as they held each other.

Laying in bed together, soft kisses, gentle touches and adoring giggles.

On a stage, fans cheering as they embrace.

Running in the darkness, confident that they were there and all together.

Gentle touches and lingering glances in the penthouse.

Rumi leaning back, Mira's hands in her hair, Zoey in Rumi's lap leaning against her.

Zoey's face lit up with absolute joy, Mira's affectionate look saved for only two people.

Rings, so many rings.

Demons closing in, fear and anxiety.

A hundred, a thousand, millions of I love you.

A hundred thousand lives, lived at once.

A single warm feeling at the centre of it. Each and every time.

Rumi gasped as she came two, hands seeking out those pieces of warmth that lived in her heart. She found them by instinct alone and pulled them down, holding them close.

The mic was still hot even as she spoke.

“You're everything to me.”
