Introduction and disclaimers
Hi, hello!
It is I, your average, inconsistent fanfic author. Thank you for clicking on my story, whether it was by accident, from TikTok, or because you follow any of my other stories (sorry about that). I'm hopping in here to clarify some things about the story before we begin, so they don't go unsaid.
First, as many other authors here, English is not my first language, so inconsistencies are probable. But, to be fair, I've been writing in English long enough that my sentences are generally eloquent, so there's not much to warn about. Still, transparency, I guess, since I don't have beta readers or anything.
Alright, now, about the story.
This is set between Seasons 3 and 4, in the sense that the events of Season 4 haven't happened, and Starcourt Mall is history. However, my story can very well be an alternative timeline—there is no Upside Down mention or interaction. As the title says, this is an exploration of regular Hawkins, regular problems, and what the characters can be when not fighting (literally) for their lives. I'm treating most things from previous seasons as canon, but I don't touch the supernatural.
Everything is properly tagged, but in case someone missed it, this story focuses on a polyamorous relationship between the main characters. I guess it's a fair warning if anyone feels like that's not their cup of tea. Related to this, there are some accurate depictions of opinions and actions against queer people in the timeline this is set in, the late 80s, but there is also highly doubtful and idealistic support and acceptance, because I'm not a monster and I like fluff.
