Chapter Text
Riku Kimura. He was an.. Interesting soul, to say the least. He doesn't talk much, always keeps to himself.
"Hey, Kimura!" A boy called out. Eijirou Kirishima, Riku's best bud. Riku paused in his steps, turning to look at the black-haired boy.
"What is it, Kirishima?" Riku asked, his tone coming out more hostile than intended.
"Such hostility?! I just wanted to know if you were planning on going to UA!" Kirishima cheerfully said.
Riku took a second to answer.
"Oh, I don't know. Teru is already going there and he says my quirk wouldn't be strong enough."
Eijirou's face suddenly looked more determined.
"Who cares what Older Kimura thinks? Your quirk is amazing! Besides, I don't want to go if you aren't there!"
Eijirou pouted, making Riku roll his eyes. Though, it's clear the boy had no real annoyance.
"I'll see how I feel when the entrance exam comes around."
Riku sighed. Damn this stupid boy. Eijirou smiled, showing all his shark-like teeth.
"Awesome! Hopefully I'll see you there, bro!"
Riku arrived home, setting his bag down. Of course, no acknowledgement from his parents. They only cared about his brother, Teru. But it was better than his birth family, he supposed..
He headed to the kitchen, starting to make food. Usagi, Riku's mother, stood in the doorway.
"You're late."
She hissed. It was nearly 7PM.
"Teru isn't even home yet."
Riku retorted. The look Usagi gave him made him freeze. It was the same look.. she always gave him.
"Your brother is busy with training."
Usagi scoffed.
"Right.. My apologies."
Riku muttered. Usagi rolled her eyes, heading back to her shared room with Riku's father. As she left, she muttered something about "Being so pathetic."
Riku finished making his food—some simple Nimono—and headed to his room to eat it. He decides to look up some information about UA while he eats, since his YouTube screentime was already up. It seemed like it was the best hero school in Japan, considering a bunch of great heroes went there. No wonder Teru got in. But is his quirk really strong enough? He doesn't want to doubt Eijirou's judgement, but the boy tends to be extremely positive. He needs to be realistic about this. Maybe it'd be good to ask for other opinions.
February arrives. And with it, so does the UA entrance exam. Riku tries to find Eijirou, to no success. He sighed and sat in the first empty seat. The announcer—Present Mic, he assumed—explained the entrance exam. Destroy the robots.. Was his quirk really fit for this? Nonetheless, he'd try his best.
Riku paid no mind to the other people in his district. Aside from this blonde kid.. His hair kind of made him look like a scared cat. He was taking down these robots with ease. Riku's eyes lit up. Was that.. admiration? He wasn't sure, but he was sure that he had never been more determined to pass a test.
Every robot Riku came across from then on was turned to crystals, before being cracked to pieces in the matter of seconds. He should probably be more careful.. He could already see the blood starting to come from his arm. It's fine. He'll survive. He's gone through worse before. A little blood loss is nothing.
Riku awoke to his bedroom dorm being slammed open. The teal-haired boy known as his brother stood in the doorway. He gave Riku a dirty look, before setting a note down on his desk.
"This came for you."
Teru huffed out, storming away. Riku glanced at the note, curious as to what could be in it that'd make Teru so worked up. He dragged himself out of bed, opening the note. A hologram of All Might started to play, causing him to jump. The words, however, made Riku's eyes light up. He scrambled to text Eijirou.
Guess who got in.
SEE, I KNEW YOU COULD DO IT ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️💪💪💪💪💪💪💪 LET'S HOPE WE GET IN THE SAME CLASS ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Riku didn't know why, but the thought of him and Eijirou being in the same class made him almost giddy. That was.. an emotion he hasn't felt in a while.
