Work Text:
"Baby, remember to come straight to the parking lot after school. You know that Mommy and Daddy wanted to buy you some new winter clothes today”
Megumi sighed loudly and dramatically.
"You’re as dramatic as your Daddy, I'm just asking you not to talk to your friends for too long, because Dad is coming back today after his long mission and will probably be tired.”
Suguru explained as he focused his gaze on the heavy traffic.
"Yeah, if he comes back today at all."
It was almost a whisper, as if Megumi knew his Mommy wouldn't be happy about his words.
"Can you repeat that, honey? I didn't hear you."
As if he were giving him another chance to say something.
He had discussed this topic with Megumi so many times before.
"...I said, if he comes back today at all."
He said a little louder, more like an annoyed groan, and the “if” was heavily pronounced.
„Megumi, I've explained to you many times that Daddy has a demanding job as a jujutsu teacher, is sent on many missions, and is also the leader of our clan. Nevertheless, he tries to make as much time for you as possible. Because he loves you. You go to a good elementary school, have more than enough toys, food, clothes, a roof over your head, and a bed, and it's all thanks to him, so I don't want to hear you blame him again because he's already doing the best he can."
Suguru's voice sounded serious, but gentle nonetheless.
He understood that Megumi was still young and that he missed Satoru.
His Daddy was often away, and 99% of the upbringing of their kids fell on Suguru's shoulders, but Satoru did everything he could.
Satoru did everything he could, and didn't "accidentally" get Suguru pregnant, Like three times, married him and then practically turned him into a single mother.
He told himself this almost every morning in front of the mirror like a mantra, while trying to cover up the dark circles under his eyes with concealer to at least give the impression that he wasn't on the verge of a breakdown.
Suguru also knew he couldn't go on like this. He felt like he hadn't had a single day to himself since their kids were born, and when Satoru came home, you'd think he'd support him, but no, no matter what Suguru forbade and what punishment he imposed on the kids, it was immediately overturned by super Daddy and Suguru was the bad mommy again.
The day before Satoru left on his mission, Megumi had gotten into a fight with a classmate at school and punched him in the nose.
When Suguru came home with Megumi, he told him to go to his room immediately.
That worked until Satoru came home.
Not only did he lift Megumi's punishment and ignored Suguru's protest, but he also said that Suguru was overreacting and that “he shouldn’t punish “his” son for something so unimportant”.
As Suguru thought about it, he realized how angry it actually made him, but a quick glance at Megumi, who was pouting with his chubby cheeks puffed out as he looked out the window, made him forget about it for a moment.
They drove into the parking lot of Megumi's private elementary school, he got out, went to the passenger side, and unbuckled Megumi to accompany him to the entrance.
"Okay, baby, have fun today and please remember to come straight to the parking lot, Daddy will be there."
Megumi said nothing, nodded, and let his mommy hug him goodbye.
He waited until Megumi was out of sight and then quickly went to the car.
He now had his own mission, which was to drive to the nearest supermarket and buy a pregnancy test.
He hadn't really wanted any more children, but he had said that after his first child, Tsumiki, too.
As he got in, he glanced back at the back seat where Mimiko and Nanako were sleeping in their baby seats.
Unfortunately, he had been experiencing morning sickness again for a few days, and experience thought him that he should take a test now.
The drive to the supermarket wasn't long. He unbuckled the twins from their seats and put them in the shopping cart.
He felt a little uncomfortable buying a pregnancy test with two children in the shopping cart who weren't even two years old.
He could have asked one of his maids from the Gojo clan, but he didn't want anyone to know that there was speculation that he was pregnant again.
Satoru's family always made a big deal out of his pregnancies, and this time he wanted to keep it a secret from them for as long as possible.
If he was pregnant at all.
He bought two pregnancy tests to be sure and then drove the twins back home.
The house Satoru had chosen for his family was not far from the Gojo estate.
Theoretically, they could have lived there, but Satoru didn't want that.
They didn't have any cooks, maids, or cleaning ladies in their private household either, because he didn't want his children to become lazy.
Sometimes, however, they slept at the large Gojo estate on weekends because the children thought it was very cool, of course, and because Suguru was urged to do so by Satoru's aunts.
Suguru put the two girls to bed because it was still very early and they were tired, which gave Suguru enough time to do the first test.
He was a little nervous.
Four children were already a lot of work, especially because they were all still very young, and now a fifth?
Tsumiki was 7 years old, Megumi was 6, and Mimiko and Nanako were almost two years old. He loved them all, but they could be extremely exhausting, especially since Satoru wasn't much help.
The time was up, and with trembling hands, he reached for the test.
…
"I'm home~"
Sang Satoru as he came through the front door, took off his shoes, and removed his blindfold.
Suguru was already standing in front of him, but instead of greeting him affectionately as he usually did, he stood there with his arms crossed and a serious expression on his face.
Satoru's six eyes told him immediately that something was wrong and that it was probably his fault.
"What's wrong, baby?"
The omega grumbled and held out the two pregnancy tests to his husband.
Satoru stared at the two positive tests.
His heart began to beat faster and a big grin appeared on his lips, but Suguru didn't look thrilled.
"When did you take them?"
Satoru asked.
Suguru sighed, annoyed.
That bothered Satoru.
He was tired, coming back from a shitty mission after a week, had just heard some very great news, and his wife was looking at him as if he had just caught him cheating.
"Do you want to tell me what your problem is, honey?"
He tried to hide his frustration, but his grin was gone.
"I didn't want any more children."
"Why not?"
"I think you can guess why."
Satoru's gaze darkened.
"No, tell me."
"I have to do everything on my own. Your children hardly ever see you. What's the point of having children if you can't even manage to be there for them for a week at a time?"
Suguru snapped at him.
"I'm tired, Satoru.“
The omega got a little louder.
Something clicked in Satoru.
He never wanted to yell at his wife, but he couldn't stand the way his omega spoke to him and what he accused him of.
"Do you think I want to leave my family alone for weeks on end?
Do you think I enjoy it?
If you knew how I feel every day when I'm away, you wouldn't complain anymore!
Do you think I don't know how many times you've had to explain to Megumi why I'm not there?
Do you think I don't know that Tsumiki doesn't even ask where I am or when I'll be back anymore?"
Satoru shouted in anger, which immediately silenced Suguru and caused the omega to take a few steps back.
"Damn it, I see my kids so rarely that I don't even know what to talk to them about when I'm with them.
It doesn't make me happy either, but it doesn't matter what I think because I'm the strongest!"
Satoru slowly calmed down, but his loud voice had woken the twins, who were now crying loudly for their mother.
"I understand that this is all very stressful for you, but I'm tired too, Suguru, so tired.
That's why I never want to be greeted like this by you again, do you hear me?"
Suguru didn't say anything and turned around to go to the twins' room to calm them down.
Satoru had, of course, seen the tears welling up in his wife's eyes and his lower lip starting to tremble.
Satoru sighed and ran his hand through his face.
He knew he would have to apologize to Suguru for this later.
Maybe the two of them should go on a date again.
He looked at the two pregnancy tests in his hand and a slight grin formed on his lips.
Something had to change.
…
Satoru and Suguru didn't talk much over the next few hours.
They ate the lunch Suguru had cooked together, and Satoru fed the twins so Suguru didn't have to.
Then Satoru took a three-hour nap before Suguru woke him up.
Satoru felt a soft hand on his bare chest.
He was lying on his back with his arms and legs stretched out across the bed.
He had been so tired that he had barely managed to take off his T-shirt before collapsing onto the big soft bed.
"Satoru, we have to pick up Tsumiki and Megumi from school, and then you promised to go shopping with me for Megumi,"
said his wife's soft voice.
Satoru grumbled tiredly and reached out to enclose the hand that lingered on his chest in his own large one.
The shutters were half closed, so the cold midday sun slightly illuminated the room.
Then his eyes fluttered open and he looked into his wife's beautiful, tired eyes.
"I'm sorry, Sugu."
"I know."
Then he lifted his wife's pale hand to his mouth and kissed it.
Suguru gave his husband a gentle smile before standing up straight again to put the twins' jackets on.
…
First, Satoru, Suguru, and the twins drove to Tsumiki's school in their large family car.
It was a private school for girls because Suguru placed great importance on his children's education and of course because Satoru didn't trust the male alphas in public schools when it came to his little Tsumiki.
She was extremely happy when she came out the front door and saw her daddy standing next to the car.
Suguru watched from the passenger seat as the seven-year-old ran toward her daddy, who crouched down for her and gave her a long hug.
Then Satoru helped his little daughter into the big car, where she immediately had to tell everyone in the car about her school day.
They drove on to Megumi's private school.
"You should go in and pick him up from the classroom, he probably won't come straight to the parking lot like I told him to,"
Suguru explained.
Satoru's eyes were focused on the road.
"All right, will do."
Suguru opened a bag of fruit and handed it back to Tsumiki.
"Tsumiki, these are soft, you can give them to your sisters, but not too many. And Satoru, don't let the teacher flirt with you, she's never seen you before and I've heard from other mothers that she likes to make a move on the fathers."
Satoru had to chuckle at his wife's concern.
"Don't worry, honey, it can't be that bad. I'll be in and out."
"Mhm, I hope so."
Then Satoru parked the car in the parking lot, unbuckled his seatbelt, and walked toward the large building.
Many elementary school students were already running out, and Satoru's six eyes scanned the building for his son.
Megumi was still in the classroom, surrounded by other little boys, talking about some new video game that had just come out while they packed their little backpacks.
Satoru had to duck his head to avoid hitting it on the doorframe as he entered.
His aura immediately attracted the attention of the children and the teacher, who was also packing her things.
"Daddy?"
Megumi asked with a confused look.
"Hey Gumi, come on, mommy and your sisters are waiting outside in the car."
His teacher immediately dropped everything and walked quickly toward the tall alpha.
She had black hair tied back in a bun, wore glasses, and was dressed colorfully but professionally.
She was much shorter than Satoru, and when she stood in front of him, she had to look up, like most people.
"Are you Mr. Gojo? Megumi's father?"
"That's me."
She had a broad grin on her face.
"Nice to meet you. Mrs. Gojo never told me what an attractive husband he has,"
she laughed.
"But no wonder, Megumi must have gotten his beauty from somewhere."
"I think Megumi looks a lot like his beautiful mother, my wife, whom I love very much."
Satoru's voice was serious but not unfriendly.
He wanted to make sure the teacher knew where she stood.
"Of course, Mr. Gojo."
She narrowed her eyes.
"But if you'd like to have a coffee sometime to talk about Megumi's grades, then..."
Satoru interrupted the teacher's sentence.
"Then I'll tell my assistant to find someone who has the time and is bored enough to meet with you to talk about Megumi's grades."
At that moment, Megumi arrived with his backpack and held it out for Satoru to take.
Satoru grinned and took the little boy's backpack.
"Okay, I have to go now because my beautiful wife, to whom I am very faithful, is waiting for me with our beautiful children. Have a nice day."
Then he took his son's hand with his other hand and ducked down again to go through the door.
"I don't like her at all,"
Megumi muttered.
"Me neither,"
Satoru chuckled.
They walked down the long hallway of the school toward the exit when he saw a few pictures of the elementary school students hanging on a cork wall.
"Gumi, you drew that, didn't you?"
The alpha grinned.
It was a picture of their family drawn with colored pencils.
Megumi was visibly uncomfortable that Satoru had found it, and he pulled his father's arm toward the entrance.
"We were supposed to draw it on the first day of school, and now come on, Daddy, please let's go."
Satoru didn't move an inch. He threw his son's little school bag over his shoulder and took out his cell phone to take a photo.
"No, Daddy, please don't,"
the little boy whined, but Satoru just thought it was cute.
He would make this picture his phone's background.
