Satoru grinned, sharp and unapologetic. “Good. I don’t like sharing.”
Suguru flushed at that, ears pink, but didn’t look away.

It had been almost two years since he last saw her. And over the span of that time Yuta kept her in the back of his mind, her voice like a keepsake, sarcastic, blunt, even sweet at times. Regardless of the situation she inspired him. In a world where he felt cursed and useless Maki made him realize his own purpose, like a dwindling spark nearly reduced to ash reignited.
Which is why it pained him even further to see her the way she was. Bearing scars that could’ve been prevented.
