It was known in the Godly world that Percy was a powerful demigod; it was the reason he was banished from them. Something he became skilled at, though, was creating glaciers and other large ice structures.
There were days when Jason had to leave to do something; he was gone for days on end, and Percy ended up farther north.
Global warming was making it so that a lot of the glaciers were melting, but Percy could fix that.
It didn’t take much to freeze a lot of water now. It was just like breathing or controlling normal water.
Freezing the ice also made him feel more useful. When the gods banished him, he lost what he thought was his only purpose in life; his mom was already gone at that point, and the only thing he knew to do was really fight. However, when he realized he could help the world by doing this, it also helped him in the process.
No god ever tried to stop him from doing it, no one came near him, so he continued to do it.
The glaciers were home to multiple animals, and they helped them to keep their home, so Percy kept refreezing them.
