Fluixon opened the door of the dressing room and let Thomas inside, making sure to lock it immediately after- he even checked it twice just for good measure.
"Flux? " Thomas asked, he didn't know why he was called into the room but went anyways. just like he always has, he'll follow flux to the ends of the earth if the man so asked.
"Thomas." Flux blurted out. He looked so distressed and his white suit was all wrinkled up and he wasn't even wearing the coat of it yet along with another major or minor details Thomas could make out. It wasn't like Flux at all.
"-Am I making the right choice?" Flux looked so scared, Thomas haven't seen this expression on him since Saparata purposed to Flux.
"In what?" Thomas asked before putting a hand on Flux's shoulder and rubbing it in hopes to calm Flux down.
"In marrying Saps" Flux's voice was all shaky and his usual confident tone was completely gone.
Thomas just stared at Flux, because how was he meant to answer that? how was he meant to answer the man he loved that marrying his future husband wasn't the right choice- because the right choice would be Thomas right here right now and then. Thomas didn't let himself indulge in that fantasy anymore.
"You are" Thomas answered through gritted teeth, because if this is what makes Flux happy then Thomas is happy too.
Flux's face didn't look any less distressed, he actually looked worse. Thomas didn't know what to do at all in this moment but he knew he needed that look of despair to disappear from Flux sooner than later.
"Can I hug you?" Thomas asked, his tone soft and a little too tender towards a married man
( In an ideal world, Flux would be married to him and this tone would be allowed, promoted even. )
"Of course you can. " Thomas could hear the faux confidence Flux was forcing into his speech, it made Thomas feel awfully sick to his stomach. He didn't know why though in this moment.
Thomas then pulled Flux into the hug. Thomas had half the mind not to bury his face into Flux's White shirt and ruin it so close to the wedding afterall, Thomas didn't deserve to ruin Flux's wedding with his emotions fruther. Flux deserved far better. Someone like Saparata. Someone like the man he would be marrying in a few hours. Anyone but Thomas.
Then it was just silence. Save for the quiet crying of Flux, who now had his face buried in Thomas' shoulder while Thomas just held him. Thomas didn't mind how tightly Flux held him, didn't mind how wet Flux was getting his clothes from his tears.
All Thomas cared about was Flux felt safe enough to be like this.
In the meantime Thomas rubbed circles into Flux's back, trying to provide some physical comfort at the very least, Flux deserved it afterall.
Thomas couldn't believe this would be the last hug he got from Flux before he was all Saparatas.
It made Thomas feel sicker when he realized this really was the last few hours where Flux is all his.
The last few hours of the Flux he would play as a guard for during recess, the one he would waste hours watching trashy movies just him and Flux can hate on them with the rest of the "conspiracy" and any other moment that was well loved and preserved in his mind.
Atleast in this very moment, Flux was all his. Flux who felt comfortable to sob and ruin Thomas suit. Flux whose grip hurt even through the farbic of a shit and shirt. Flux. Flux. Fluixon of Aculon. Who is all his and always will be in his mind. He didn't need a ring prove his devotion to him anyways.
(He would like to, though. He would've looked beautiful, Flux always looked beautiful anyways though along with a dozen other words akin to it.)
Then Fluixon started to temper down, his sobs are almost gone, his breathing has stabilized and his grip isn't as tight anymore.
"Thank you." Fluixon hoarsed out, his voice weak after all that. Thomas didn't mind though.
"Of course, you're my best friend, Flux." Thomas still didn't separate from the hug even when he felt Fluixon's arms go limp, he didn't want to imagine this ending at all.
Fluixon was the one who broke the hug off, then asked Thomas to help him in finishing dressing up for the wedding.
Thomas nodded and followed along, like he always did.
Fluixon looked stunning, like he always in Thomas' eyes.
The white suit was the perfect contrast to his black hair that was dyed purple at the end, the accents of purple and golds made the suit look even fancier. It was perfect for Flux. Like how Saparata was.
All that needed to be done was to button up the last button of the shirt, and Thomas finished up. Fluixon spoke up.
"Thank you" His voice still sounded hoarse, but it sounded sweeter. It made Thomas want to cry.
"What for?" Thomas asked, trying to prevent himself from breaking down.
"Everything" Oh. That made Thomas feel like throwing up.
"Of course" But he kept the best straight face he could with the sickness in his throat. He could feel the weight of the ring hidden away in his pants pocket.
Thomas stood there in his best man spot next to Ender, he didn't want to believe the actual wedding was happening then he heard.
"Any objections? Speak your truth or forever hold your peace" The officiant announced, loud and clear.
Thomas wanted to so desperately object, to display his love out. To kiss Flux like how Saparata was about to.
But he refrained himself, he wouldn't dare to ruin Flux's happiest day. Flux deserved Saparata like how Saparata deserved Flux.
It was the afterparty now, well for the "conspiracy" it was.
Thomas drank.. Maybe 5? Maybe another 2 cups and was now clinging onto Flux.
Flux was also a little bit tipsy. It was cute to Thomas honestly.
Ish above. The way Flux's face was flushed because of the Alcohol, and how he got louder.. It made Thomas want to pepper kisses all over his pretty face.
But he knew he couldn't. Fluixon was a freshly married man afterall. So he settled with clinging to Flux's arm and pouring his heart out in alcohol tonight.
Thomas could still feel the weight of the ring hidden in his pants pocket.
