"Hey, Finn… what's that noise?" Bow asked as he walked up to Catra and Adora's house.
Finn shrugged as they said, "What noise?"
Bow looked at them, trying to figure out exactly what game they were playing because Finn looked incredibly innocent, which meant they were incredibly guilty of something.
"Finn, I've known your mother for years, I know you and her both have amazing hearing," Bow said as he heard the distant thuds from the house along with the occasional shout.
"Don't know what you mean," Finn said and nodded at the homemade speaker beside them on the grass. "I've just been out here listening to music, you know, taking it easy before my date this evening."
Bow was pretty sure he'd heard his name get shouted just then as well.
"Finn…,"
"Yes, Uncle Bow?" Finn said with the most adorable smile they could muster which had been heart meltingly adorable when they had been young and now looked incredibly mischievous as a teenager.
"Did you lock your moms in the house?"
"I'm sure I don't know what you mean," Finn replied.
Bow held up the key he had to the house and gave Finn a look as he said, "Want to try that again before I go over and unlock the door?"
Finn stood and stretched a little as they said, "Still not sure what you mean, I try not to get involved, you know how it is so maybe I think it's time for a little walk."
"Finn!" Bow shouted as he tried not to laugh as Finn took off at a run and vaulted the low stone wall at the front of the property before disappearing down the road.
Bow walked to the front door. The yelling and pounding had stopped just moment before and Bow was pretty sure he could hear someone messing with the door hinges.
"Hey! It's Bow, I'm going to unlock it!"
He could hear a muffled voice that sounded like Catra saying, "Locks are jammed!"
"Should I get Glimmer to teleport you?" Bow shouted through the door.
He almost laughed when he heard Adora shout an emphatic yes and Catra shout an even more empathic no. Then he heard them bickering and then the door started to move. A few minutes later, Catra had the door off its hinges and leaning against the front entry way.
"Where are they!?" Catra shouted.
"Went running after professing their innocence," Bow said, pointing down the road. "Do I want to know?"
Adora shoved a piece of paper into Bow's hand as she said, "Oh, they left a note."
Bow was about to ask when Adora let loose with a shout that could probably be heard in the castle several miles away of, "FINN!"
"Thanks, I'm deaf now," Catra said as she dropped herself onto a porch chair. "And when has shouting for them ever worked?"
"They are in so much trouble, I swear," Adora said before letting loose another shout for Finn.
As she did, Bow looked down at the note in his hand and began laughing.
"It's not funny," Adora muttered.
"Well, it's a bit funny," Catra said. "At least now that we're out and didn't have to break a window or door down."
Bow looked again at the note again and chuckled.
Dear Mother and Mom,
I believe it's time you two had another kid. That's why I'm locking you in the house until it happens. Do whatever needs doing (I don't want to know, gross) and fear not, I've stocked the kitchen for you. Also know, there is no escape. The locks are jammed, the windows are wedged shut, and I've removed all the tools from the house. You will not escape until I let you loose. I have every contingency covered.
Your child (and hopefully older sibling),
Finn
P.S. I suggest Mara, Lonnie or Kyle as names. I'm open to discussion.
"Why do they write like a villain?" Bow said as he tamped down his laughter to avoid Adora's look she was shooting his way.
"Because they're a drama lover like their mother," Adora said, nodding at Catra.
"Oh, don't put this on me, you're the one who used to read those cheesy drama kids books to them for bedtime," Catra said.
"Still, it's kind of cute," Bow said as he handed the note back to Adora. "Didn't know they wanted a sibling."
"They've been hinting at it and we told them it wasn't going to happen," Adora said as she sat down the steps with a sigh.
"Guess they take no for answer about as well as the rest of us do," Catra said.
"It's pretty innovative," Bow said as he sat down beside Adora. "Did they really do all of that?"
"Yep, took the toolkit, wooden wedges in the windows so they wouldn't open, putty in the locks so keys don't work, and a stocked kitchen, which actually had decent food," Catra said with a nod and held up an old chisel. "They missed this in the junk drawer or we'd still be banging at the door."
"Don't forget the sledgehammer by the back door with a tag on it that said, 'In case of emergency.' Have to admit that was thoughtful," Adora said as she laughed a little despite herself.
Bow grinned as he said, "Kid is going places with that kind of preparation."
"Oh, they're going places," Catra said. "Their room for months for one."
"Months? That's an empty threat and you know it," Adora said. "You always let them off easy."
"Really? We want to talk about the last time?" Catra said, her tail swishing in amusement.
"OK, OK," Bow said, having sat through some version of the conversation many times before. "Let's just say that you'll give an appropriate and proportional response."
"Fine," Catra said as she rolled her eyes with a grin. "If we must. Now let's see if we can track them down, Scorpia and Perfuma are in town with their little horde so I have an idea of where Finn went to hide this time."
