It's our tradition

Summary:

Every year, Alex makes a carrot cake for his wife for Winter Star. He's gotten so good at this. ♥

An artwork for the Decembalex '25 day 26 prompt, 'Tradition'. I borrowed gridballgirl's version of Alex for this, as it's an homage to her fics Foundations and Home to Roost, and a gift to her for organizing this event with me!

As stated in the summary, this art is an homage to Home to Roost (and its related works) and a gift to my friend Erika for organizing Decembalex with me :3 It was her idea to do an Alex-themed event, and we both pounced on it pretty much as soon as she said it hehe

Erika, I know I already told you directly, but you are so wonderful as both a person and a writer, and I'm so glad to call you my friend! Thank you for everything that you do, not only for me, but in general! I am so glad we met, and I'm so glad we did this together! 💛

If you haven't already, please read her Kid Fears oneshot series she wrote for Decembalex! It's a series of vignettes showing Alex's troubled childhood, and if you're familiar at all with her other fics, you can definitely see how his childhood traumas shaped the man he grows up to be. It's lovely, but do keep the tissues handy :')

Oh yeah, and just so you know how insane I am I looked up a carrot cake recipe to know how many eggs it would be 😂 I am committed to accuracy!!!
