   Summary

"Dal, I think we missed our stop," Johnny says, voice trembling, "I heard them call out the time – it's eight in the morning."

Johnny kills Bob Sheldon in self defense. Desperate for help, he runs to Dallas Winston for help. They mean to flee to Windrixville; only they both miss their stop and wind up in a town called Ophidia, deep in Mississippi. The town is very different from any place they've ever been, and they make the choice to lie low as best they can. It's a little harder to do when the snake preacher's son, Ponyboy, takes an interest in Dallas — and that interest is going to have almost as much consequences as Bob Sheldon's corpse.
