With Robert working the field again on occasion as Red Ring crimes have gone down, he helped with dispatch when he can. The team has really shaped up with Coupe’ joining them and the need for ‘cuts’ have been all but removed.
He worked a dispatch shift for the day and was on lunchbreak when something dropped down as he neared the breakroom door.
Sonar had hung upside down waiting for Robert as he waited for the man to take his break. Being a bat hybrid made the feat child’s play as it delightfully resulted in the man getting spooked.
“Don’t do that! What if it was someone else!” Robert chastised as he held a hand to his chest.
“I won’t make that mistake Bobert, I know your sounds from a mile away!” The man bat hybrid said smugly crossing his arms.
“Yeah yeah move so I can take my lunch.” Robert said trying to get past Sonar but said bat hybrid just spread his arms barring the door.
“You shall not pass! There’s a toll fee” Sonar said cheekily a playful glint in his eyes.
“Victor, we’re at work” Robert deadpanned but the other didn’t budge.
“Fiiiine!” He groaned and after looking around, he took the hybrids face in his hands before bringing their lips together…well lips to snout.
Sonar hummed in delight as he grasped Robert’s face. The angle was a little awkward but they knew how to make it work, they’ve had practice after all.
They separated after a few seconds and Robert stated “I paid my fee” before scratching at the fur on the man’s neck making them purr.
“Payment accepted!” Victor grinned as he pulled himself up and flipped around to land beside the man as he entered.
Robert just chuckled as he went to the coffee machine and prepared his coffee. A paper bag was waved in his face.
“Got you lunch” Victor said laying his chin on the man’s shoulders.
“You’re sweet, thanks Vic” Robert smiled as he finished filling his cup and Sonar set their lunches at one of the nearby tables. A portal opened and Malevola along with Prism and Waterboy stepped out. Their missions already finished.
“Heya lovebirds…bats? Whatever. You done with your whole song and dance?” Prism asked taking a seat as Waterboy got their lunches from the fridge.
“Yeah, he did the ‘You shall not pass’ bit” Robert said taking his seat beside Victor who just grinned up at the others.
“I’m surprised a colony of ants haven’t claimed ya from all that sickly sweet drivle you two engage in” Malevola commented with a smirk accepting the container of food from Waterboy.
“I-I th-think it’s sweet. Like the rom-coms my grandma watches” Herm said taking a seat and began eating. The others started to as light conversation was made.
Victor slipped his hand in Roberts and the other accepted giving it a squeeze.
