[Boombox]
BEEP BEEP BEEP
“Ughhh, what time is it…”
My eyes open slightly, trying to adjust to the amount of light in the room. I roll over onto my right side in the bed, my right horn pressing into the pillow uncomfortably as I stare at the digital clock on my nightstand.
10:36 am
It was later than I normally wake up. Although that was probably because of the party I was DJ'ing last night. I didn't get done till two in the morning.
I take off the soft covers of the bed. Laying there a bit longer trying to convince my body to get up out of the bed.
Once I finally get out, I stretch a little before going to the bathroom to relive myself. I take a shower once I'm done with the toilet, letting the warm water wash over my grey skin.
I step out of the shower, drying off as my stomach starts to rumble. I remember that I need to head to Sling's cafe to meet up with Coil and Skate, so I finish drying off and quickly brush my teeth.
I head out of the bathroom, grabbing my visor on my nightstand and secure it around my green horns. I headed to my closet and chose my usual set of clothes to wear for today. These clothes are a green polo shirt, dark green thumbless gloves, dark green pants with a green glowing star pattern on the left side, a chain on my right side, my chest strap and finally my green shoes also with the star pattern on them.
Before I leave, I remember to grab my green starry skateboard, since we planned to head to the skatepark soon after meeting at the cafe.
I grab my keys and wallet before heading out of my apartment. I walk out the door, locking it behind me as I walk to the elevator. I press the button to call the elevator, with it arriving a few seconds later. I get in the small elevator car, and press the button for the ground floor.
The elevator opens again once it reaches the correct floor as I walk out of the building. I summon my gear, a grey boombox with glowing green highlights. I decide to turn on some EDM as I walk to Thieves' Rest, Slingshot's cafe.
It takes about 20 minutes from my apartment to where the cafe is located, but the scenery of the Crossroads makes it worth it. I walk under the Flipside Tower, a huge grey structure with lights going up it.
I eventually reach the cafe, walking through its doors. There's a lot of inphernals here today, and I eventually spot Coil and Skate, my two closest friends. They turn to me, hearing my music emanating from my gear. I turn off the music as I approach them.
“Hey Boom!”
Skate is the first one to speak up, waving me over. He's also wearing his usual getup of a red sweater, grey and red helmet and camo pants. I sit down next to Skate, resting my skateboard right next to me. I can see Coil's orange skateboard right next to him as well.
“What took ya so long Boom?”
Coil speaks up right after, lazily sitting in his chair. He's wearing his typical orange jacket with torn off sleeves and blue pants.
“Sorry, I woke up late today.”
“Parties?”
“Yea, I love doing the music for them, but my sleep is sacrificed for it.”
I sit down right next to them, continuing to keep up the conversation with the two inphernals. Sling comes by soon after, asking us what we want to order. We ordered our typical drinks, which for me was a double shot espresso, Coil got straight black coffee (I don't know how he likes it) and Skate got regular coffee with cream. And I also ordered some food, the other two having already eaten.
Coil is annoying Slingshot again, as he always does when he comes here. Sling eventually heads to the back to get our orders done.
The food and drinks are delivered by a green horned inphernal, Shuriken, a bit after we order. The cafe is slightly slower than usual since there are so many people here today. There's only three workers, Slingshot, Shuriken and Vine Staff. Slingshot cooks the food, Shuriken is the waiter and Vine Staff is the cashier.
Me, Coil and Skateboard sit there a while as we enjoy our coffee, and while I eat. I ask how Skate's ‘skate fam’ is doing.
“They're doing fine yo. How's your music career doin’?”
“It's going good Skate, I'm still working on a song though.”
“You're still workin’ on Sonorous Refrain?”
“Yea.”
After we finish, we head to Vine Staff to pay for our food and leave the cafe. We head to the nearest skate park in the Crossroads to do some skating.
Both me and Coil aren't as good as Skate, but we aren't amateurs at it either.
Once we arrive at the park, me and Coil set down our boards as Skate summons his gear, a black skateboard with a red underbelly with stars.
“Hey guys! Wanna race to the end of the park?”
Skate asks, causing a response from Coil.
“You're on Skate!”
“Sure!” I reply, and with that all three of us race down the park, with Skate reaching the end much faster than us.
As me and Coil reach the end, Coil huffs.
“I'll beat you someday at this Skate.”
“Not for a long time, Coil.”
“I can still beat you in a brawl Skate.”
“That's not skating Coil.”
We continue doing random tricks in the park until the sun starts to set. We eventually depart, with Skate and Coil leaving to go to Craterdust Capital and I head back to my apartment. We planned to meet up again tomorrow at Sling's cafe to head to the arcade after.
As I walk along the streets, I decide to take a shortcut to my apartment through the alleyways. It's quite dark here, since the sun is nearly down and there's no lights to illuminate the way.
I suddenly trip and fall on an uneven part of the alleyway. The first thing I notice is that I haven't landed on the floor. The second thing is that I see a bunch of bright colors flying by me that eventually fades to white.
I suddenly feel the ground as I land on something wooden.
