Work Text:
Intro:
Your PokéScout troop is having a sleepover! You’ve been strictly warned not to keep each other up telling spooky stories. But shhhh! You’re all planning to do a seance once the adults go to sleep, and everyone needs to have a ghost type for it to work. Don’t worry, you’ve got plenty of time until midnight!
Badges:
You Light Up My Afterlife - get a Litwik
The Key To My Heart - get a Klefki
Beau-TEA-ful - get a Sinestea
Mimicking You - get a Mimikyu
Yamask-erade - get a Yamask
Baltoy To The World - get a Baltoy
Se-HELLO-ance - hold a successful seance
Rules:
Each member of your troop needs at least one ghost type pokémon before the seance can begin. If you have enough time you can always get more than one!
It’s 8 o’clock now, and each summoning ritual will take you half an hour. The seance is to be held at midnight exactly. This means you have eight chances to get a ghost type pokémon. A summoning ritual will be successful on a d20 roll of 15 or higher. (Optional shiny- 100 on a percent role) Trading and gifting your ghost pokémon is always allowed, because PokéScout share.
Summoning Rituals:
Litwik:
- You’re going to need a candle for this! Storebought is okay, or you can make one yourself. Any wax and wick will do! (You can get or make a candle, or you can just describe one.)
- Once you have your candle, find somewhere sheltered from the wind and free of fire hazards and light it. (Make sure you have an adult nearby!)
- Invite a spirit to inhabit the candle. You can do this by dancing like the candleflame. (Be very careful not to knock into the candle!)
- If the flame turns blue, you’ll know a ghost has inhabited your candle and become a Litwik. (Roll your d20!)
Klefki:
- You’ll need a key that has a hole to be put on a keyring, and a friendship bracelet thin enough to go through the hole. What the key looks like and unlocks can affect the Klefki’s personality, so choose carefully. (Make a friendship bracelet and find a key, or make up a story about a key and what it locks.)
- Set the key upright, with the teeth end pointed down. (Tip: you can use two books to hold the key in place.)
- Summon a spirit to the key by threading the friendship bracelet through the hole and tying it.
- If the friendship bracelet takes shape into a circle, a ghost has inhabited your key and become a Kelfki. (Roll your d20!)
Sinestea:
- You’ll need a cup of tea in a teacup. The design of the teacup and the flavor of the tea can both affect the Sinestea’s personality. (You can brew some tea, or describe the teacup and tea you’re using. Be very careful with hot liquid. You can add flavorings, like honey and sugar!)
- Set the teacup somewhere stable. Wait until the teacup is cool enough to hold directly.
- Summon a spirit by picking up the teacup by the rim and gently swirling it so a whirlpool appears in the tea.
- If the tea continues to swirl even after you set it down, you have successfully summoned a Sinestea. (Roll your d20!)
Mimikyu:
- You’ll need something that is hollow and cute. Think of a name for it. (Stuffed animals that have lost their stuffing can work, or you can make a stuffed animal and pause at the filling stage. You could also describe the item you’re using.)
- Address the hollow item by name. Set the hollow item down somewhere and leave, like you’re playing hide-and-seek. Stay in earshot though!
- Summon a Mimikyu to the hollow item by calling the name you gave the item.
- You’ll know the ritual worked when your Mimikyu comes to find you. (Roll your d20!)
Yamask:
- You’ll need a mask. How the mask is decorated will affect your Yamask’s personality, so chose carefully. Consider making your own out of papier-mâché.
- Hold the mask at eye level and make eye contact with it.
- Summon a Yamask to the mask by beginning a dance with it. Any partner dance should work. Keep holding the mask at eye level and making eye contact for at least one song.
- The ritual was successful if the dance ends with a pair of eyes looking back at you. (Roll your d20!)
Baltoy:
- You’ll need a spinning toy. Any toy that can stand on its own and spin should work. Its shape and design will affect its personality, so consider making your own out of clay or a similar material.
- Find a solid, flat place to spin the toy on. Make sure it’s completely level.
- Summon a Baltoy by spinning the toy and singing a song before it stops spinning. You can use any song, but you must complete the song before the toy stops spinning, and the song chosen will affect the personality of the pokemon.
- If the ritual was successful, the toy will continue to spin after the song concluded. (Roll your d20!)
Seance:
At midnight, everyone gathers together. To conduct the seance, the players ask questions aloud. If one of your questions receives an answer, you have successfully conducted a seance!
Questions are answered if a d6 roll indicates a pokémon that anyone in your PokéScout troop has.
1- Litwik
2- Klefki
3- Sinestea
4- Mimikyu
5- Yamask
6- Baltoy
The answer to your question is determined by a d6 roll.
