Summary
Guilt is such a powerful emotion. It can tear apart alliances, forge enemies, push people so far.
Guilt forced Anakin to the far rim of the Galaxy. He was certain no Jedi had or would venture this far, in fact, he wasn't even certain he was still within the Galaxy.
His mother was dead, her murderers slaughtered at his hands. It wasn't enough. Anakin had craved blood. To take and take and take until the empty chasm his mother's death had left had been filled.
It hadn't been enough.
So when Duke Leto Atreides offers Anakin a second chance to fight for a brighter future, in which he would be able to return home safely with the promise that he'd made an impact on this Galaxy for the better, Anakin took it eagerly.
