He stood still, eyes darting between the small, carefully wrapped box and the boy holding it.
"C'mon man, my arms will fall off if you just stand there. It's for you, take it."
Yu slowly extended his arm, taking the gift from his classmate's hands.
When he didn't say anything, the usually cheerful boy broke the silence again, his eyes shifting between the gift, the grey-haired boy and the ground.
"I-I know it's still a long way until your birthday, a-and it's not a special occasion or anything, but when I saw it, it reminded me of you, in the sense that it looked cool and you're cool, I mean, who doesn't want to look cool, and I thought that maybe we could get matching ones, b-but not in a gay way or anything, dude, I just thought t-that we would look cool together and we could try to pick up some girls and uhm..."
He shifted between grasping at the hems of his jacket and rubbing the back of his neck before ultimately giving up. What a fool he had been! Matching bracelets was an awful, terrible idea, he just wanted to rush home and hide under the blankets. His only luck was that Yu was the quiet type and wouldn't tell their classmates about this embarrassing episode. Hopefully...
"...ift."
"W-what?" He'd missed whatever Yu said, too enshrouded in his own thoughts and insecurities.
"I said it's a nice gift."
The taller boy took the bracelet out of the box and put it on, eyeing it for a bit before turning to his best friend. He took a few steps forward, standing closer to him to grab at his arm and check their matching bracelets side by side. His lips turned into a calm, mysterious smile as slowly let go and raised his head to meet the now gulping boy's gaze, and while his tone did little to express his true feelings, his eyes sparkled like diamonds.
"Thanks, Yosuke."
