Xie Lian grits his teeth. If he can just push through a little longer...
No, he thinks, closing his eyes for a moment. San Lang wouldn't want me to. He gets so upset when I have a setback.
He looks mournfully at the little cup in his hands. He's almost finished with putting it back together. If he stops now, it'll be more difficult to start again, just because he'll have to get an idea of where the pieces go again...
But no. Hua Cheng would want him to rest. He would want him to be kind to his exhausted body and mind.
Xie Lian sets the cup down, walks over to his bed, and curls up with a book he's read many times before. Soon, Hua Cheng will be back, and they can rest together.
