Chapter 1: Proposal

Chapter Text

"Why are we here?" Catra asked in her usual snarky tone.
Adora had grown used to this tone, and she even begun to find it quite endearing.

The two were standing in Adora's favorite part of the Whispering Woods. It was an isolated place, making it perfect to hold private conversations or to just clear your mind. The trees blocked out most of the sunlight, leaving the surroundings dim. The small amount of sunlight that managed to break through the leaves left speckles of light that danced on the grass.

Adora's heart pounded as she reached for her back pocket. She felt what she was looking for: a small box, so small that it could fit inside the palm of your hand.

"I wanted to ask you something." Adora nervously said as she pulled the little box out of her pocket.

"What is that?" Catra asked. She leaned in closer, but she didn't quite see what her girlfriend was holding.

Adora took a deep breath. She lowered her body to get on one knee, and after that she held the box infront of her.

"Catra, the love of my life, I knew that we went through... rough times... But I wanted to ask you this..."

Adora could see her girlfriend's pupils widen and her cat ears perk up. It was quite adorable.

"Will you marry me?" Adora asked as she opened the small box, revealing a ring with a red gem on it.

The cat let out a gasp when she saw the vibrant and shiny gem.

"I..." she stuttered.

Adora began to worry that perhaps Catra would decline her proposal, but luckily that dreaded 'no' never came, because the cat hugged Adora with tears in her eyes.

"Yes! Yes!" Catra exclaimed as her tears of happiness made Adora's shoulder wet.

Quite possibly the cat's tears of joy were contagious, because the blonde started sobbing as well.
It was a sweet display, one filled with happiness and hope for the future.

"I'm gonna wear a suit!" Catra exclaimed. She was still hugging Adora, so her exclaimation kind of hurt her blonde girlfriend's ears.

Adora chuckled as she winched. She didn't mind the slight ear damage.

"Then I'm gonna wear a dress!" Adora happily said.

"You, in a dress?" Catra chuckled. "Oh wait, you wore a dress at that one prom in that ice place."

"And I looked damn beautiful!" Adora giggled.

"I bet I looked better!" The cat teased. She pulled away from the hug, her tears replaced by a playful twinkle in her eyes.

Adora couldn't help but giggle at Catra.
"We'll have to ask Glimmer and Bow about who looked better!"

"Just admit it! I am the best-looking person in Etheria!" Catra joked.

"Never!!" Adora exclaimed in an overly dramatic tone as she dropped herself onto the grass in an almost theatrical way.

"Are you pretending to have died from the truth?" Catra grinned.

"Oh no!" Adora exclaimed. She tried to sound serious, but a giggle escaped from her mouth. "I seem to be dyin- bleh."
As soon as she made the 'bleh' noise Adora closed her eyes and pretended to be dead.

"Oh! What ever shall I do now?" Catra exclaimed. She pretended to wipe away tears as if she was mourning Adora's loss. It was very obviously a joke though.

The cat let herself fall onto the ground, next to where Adora was laying.

After a moment of silence, Adora stopped playing dead and she spoke:

"So... Who are we going to invite?"

"I wanna invite Scorpia," Catra responded. "I know that I have been bad to her in the past, but I want her to be at out wedding."

"Yeah," Adora said. "I want to invite all of the princesses, and of course Bow and Glimmer should be there too."

"Maybe Bow can make confetti arrows."

"Yeah!" Adora exclaimed as she sat up. "Catra, you're a genius!"

"Hehe, I know." The cat smirked. She was still laying in the grass, seeming very comfortable.

"Wait, wait! What if we do confetti arrows AND firework arrows?" Adora happily suggested.

"Too complicated. We can do glitter arrows though." Catra said.

"Yes!" Adora grinned. "And Glimmer can do the decorations!"

-♡-

"Oh my gosh, oh my gosh!" Glimmer squealed. "You guys are engaged?!"

"Yup!" Adora grinned.

"Oh, I'm so excited!" The queen of Etheria exclaimed. "The wedding needs to be perfect!"

Catra and Adora were in the palace now, and they had told Glimmer, Bow, Swiftwind, and the other princesses about the delightful news. Perfuma and Seahawk were both crying tears of joy, and Mermista and Frosta both looked happy for the couple. Entrapta had a twinkle in her eyes, while Swiftwind neighed happily.

The only one who did not make a scene was Scorpia. The scorpion princess kept her gaze focused on the floor, which was a bit odd, but Adora and Catra payed no mind.

"I'm so happy for you guys!" Perfuma said inbetween sobs. "Can I do the flowers?" She softly asked as she wiped away tears.

"Of course!" Adora smiled.

"I'll make ice sculptures!" Frosta exclaimed. "And maybe Entrapta can do the lighting!"

"Yeah! I know ALOT about all kinds of lights!" Entrapta grinned. "If I can find a double capacity battery and a movement sensor, I could maybe make a lamp track you guys as you walk down the aisle..." she muttered, lost in thought.

"Yeah, yeah," Catra sighed. "We know that you like technology."

"Can I sing a tear-jerking shanty?" Seahawk suddenly asked.

"Please don't." Mermista grumbled.

"But my dearest Mermista, we NEED music at the wedding!" Seahawk pleaded to the princess of the sea.

"We'll hire a band," Adora said. "Sorry, Seahawk."

The man let out a sigh. His disapointment was extremely obvious, and it felt a little theatrical, but that is usual for Seahawk. Atleast he wasn't as dramatic as Double Trouble.

"What about you?" Adora asked to Scorpia. The scorpion princess was standing all by herself, and she only now took her eyes off of the floor. "Do you want to help with our wedding?"

"Uh..." Scorpia hesitated. "Sure. I can maybe do like... the balloons or something."

"Great! Thank you so much!" The blonde smiled. She then went back to discussing wedding plans with her friends and the princesses.

No one looked at Scorpia.
