*Knock, knock, knock*
“Leonard?”
*Knock, knock, knock*
“Leonard?”
*Knock, knock, knock*
“Leon—“
“What, Sheldon?” Leonard asked, paranoia flooding his voice as he opened the door to see his roommate awaiting him, hand in a position that indicated that he was about to knock again.
“I need help.” He replied eagerly, but his face remained neutral.
“What, Sheldon? What—what could you possibly need my help with at 2:39 a.m.?” Leonard asked, indignation flooding in his tone.
“I’m experiencing the inability to sleep, Leonard. It’s as if my mind is performing an endless series of calculations, iterating over unresolved problems in the field of physics.”
Leonard sighed. “Have tried relaxing you mind? Most people just count sheep—me included!”
“Both my brain and body can’t relax. In other words: I can’t sleep, Leonard.” Sheldon whined.
Leonard let out a long, dramatic sigh and stepped to the side so Sheldon could join him in his room. The taller man quickly stepped inside so Leonard could close the door.
“Ooh.” Sheldon exclaimed, a bright smile forming on his face“You made another glow in the dark goldfish! Now, here’s an interesting fact about goldfish: when they’r—“
“Yes, Sheldon.” Leonard cut him off as he sat on the edge of his bed. “Would you mind it if I slept in here? Or am I going to have to sleep in the couch?”
“If I had simply wanted to sleep in your bed, Leonard, I would’ve just came in here and announced that I’m kicking you out of your own bed.” Sheldon quipped, sitting down next to his roommate.
“I was just wondering because—no offense, Sheldon, but you’re kind of a germaphobe,” Learned replied, confusion appearing on his face.
The theoretical physicist replied in a disturbingly cheerful way. “Oh, none taken!” Sheldon hesitated, but leaned to his left so he could lean up against Leonard. “I’m awfully tired, Leonard.” He said, eyes drooping.
“Sheldon?” Leonard asked, looking at him curiously, and hoping that he wouldn’t see the blush that flooded his face. “Shelly? You okay?”
“I’m not getting any less tired.” Sheldon mumbled, pushing his face to the crook of his roommate’s neck.
“C’mere,” Leonard mumbled, wrapping his arms around Sheldon and pulling him to lie down. “You sure that sleep deprivation is the only thing that’s going on? You’re not normally this,” he paused, “clingy…?”
“My dad died twenty years ago from today—technically twenty years from yesterday.” Sheldon replied, getting into his normal sleeping position; flat on his back, hands resting at either his sides or on his stomach.
It took a minute for the experimental physicist to respond. “Oh,” is all he could say. He set his glasses down on his nightstand and laid down on his side so he was still facing Sheldon, but he wasn’t sitting up uncomfortably. “D… do you want to talk about i—?” He was cut off by Sheldon. Not by words, but by a hug. The blush returned, if it every truly left, that is (he felt he eyes widen as well). He began to rub the taller man’s back, but also while preparing for him to pull back abruptly. But he didn’t (not at first that is).
Sheldon quickly pulled away. He looked at Leonard. Leonard looked at him. They looked at each-other for a minute before Sheldon smashed his face into Leonard’s. They kissed for about three seconds until Sheldon pulled away (again).
“Sh-Sheldon?” Leonard asked, trying to hide his excitement.
He apparently did a good job.
“Apologies.” Sheldon spat out quickly. Too quickly. “I shouldn’t have done that it… I won’t do it agai—“ Leonard quickly grabbed Sheldon’s waist, pulling him back to so they could continue kissing.
“You know, for someone who worries so much about his health, you sure are clingy." Leonard laughed out after they parted.
“I didn’t take you as someone who would mind it.” Sheldon responded, unaffected by his roommate’s comment.
Leonard only laughed in response, and guided Sheldon’s head back towards his with his finger on the bottom of his chin.
And so, they stayed like this for hours, laughing, talking, kissing and cuddling.
