Work Text:

The rain entity is a manifestation of Collin’s grief, it feels his pain, his emotions, his anger, and most importantly his loneliness. It brings rainfall along with it. It will always be there.

Collin, it’s "creator" laid onto the white bed. the rain being turned into background noise— much like the entity itself, it can only be viewed through a lense or glass afterall. It stands beside its creator. Holding out its blue umbrella for him as a sign of affection.

it doesn’t matter, it will always be there for Collin. Literally and figuratively . Standing in the background , watching him. The sharp pain in its chest grew to become normalcy, coming from his constant repression. It adjusted its tie. Loosening it .

Collin felt melancholic, motivation-less. Nobody was there for him— nobody to rely on to help with his grief, emotions. He brushed it off, being sad will lead to his downfall, a downpour of emotions will lead him to his death in the jaws of an entity. Maybe that would be better? No. What was he thinking?

"Bloody hell.” He’d mumur, standing up. He needed to distract himself, he was getting too "sad" again, maybe he should grind for those ores again. Ones that the speedrunner wannabe stole from him! What an annoying prat.

He stood up, wiping his hands of the dust. A furry of rain pattering against his roof and windows. Collin sighed in annoyance, being sleep-deprived made him less patient . ( or was it something else entirely? )

Collin walked outside, opening and shutting the door. The wet blades of glass was normal, the mud splashed onto his boots as he went to a cave, the trip took a bit longer than expected since he had to tell an entity to fuck off, coincidentally the rain became heavier, odd. The rain entity followed

The caves were damp, dark. The texture felt jagged against his rubber boots. A contrast now that he thought about it. He further descended into the caves, droplets of rain flowing down.

He was 'alone',with his thoughts yet again. It was oddly peaceful. He didn’t like it, he didn’t like being alone in general, he continued moved on- those ores weren’t gonna mine themselves afterall.

A few moments passed, he had managed to get a few ores, iron and red stone. Not bad, considering there was no entity interrupting his gameplay- it was considerably good.

till, he encountered a pool of water, the raindroplets dripping onto the small area. Echoing across the stone walls, he sees an obvious figure in the reflection , a black silhouette of most likely a man around his build, he wore a blue tie, fedora and umbrella. great , he wasn’t alone with his thoughts. He saw this.. thing before, never up close through.

"Great . Another obvious fuck..What do you want?” Collin questioned. His tone filled with sarcasm— his anger flaring up " It isn’t the first time we met. What are you? Working for those wannabe admins.” He’d ask, bitterly.

The entity doesn’t respond, tiredly lowering its "head" the fedora covering its face? "Not responding? Fair enough, atleast your not annoying like that-“

“you are me and i am you.”
it spoke , its voice alike to Collin except for being more expressive and faint. its voice heavy with emotions and accompanied by the downpour.

It made Collin paused, it didn’t seem like a doppelgänger unlike that colinlock19 guy. it was him? Obviously not. He wasn’t an entity- he didn’t wear a blue tie nor fedora, he didn’t carry an umbrella!

“Right sure, mind explaining that? I’m not some ARG YouTuber afterall.” Collin said, swallowing his pride . He wanted to leave the game already, disconnect his router, press the Alt-F4 button and disappear. However something stopped him, maybe it was because he wanted to go mining. ( or he actually wanted to know what was happening. )

" morris. "
Of course it knew his real name. What next? His IP address?

" I am a part of you , morris. technically . I was born from your repressed emotions . everytime you ache to see them again . everytime you ache to be a normal person .
everytime you know your an oddity amongst others ."

Collins breath hitched, it felt raw. like his body was being gutted . nobody knew themselves better than.. an odd version of themselves technically.

" I was always there , morris . there when you first started playing Minecraft as a way to preserve their sense of self , I was there when you hid from hunger , I was there when you visited zacherie ."
It explained, its words surprisedly straightforward. He felt the smell of rain, ozone grew stronger.

" you . are me morris . we are together forever . when the rain comes so will i "

" in twenty years , you’ll still be mourning over their disappearance, still waiting for someone whose body had already decomposed ." Collin’s expression faltered. Swallowing the lump that grew in his throat. Before gaining the courage to speak up— clearly this was some entity playing tricks on him !

"What the fuck would you know anyway? Why would I even trust you? You don’t have anything against me.” He spoke, his voice remaining casual . He hid his hands to cover the fact that he was shaking. What the fuck ? Why did he feel so weak ?

" I know what you feel , I know everything about you morris .”

“ I’ve felt your grief , longing . The large void of emptiness . Your detachment socially . your lack of care of safety. it’s a shame ."

" if you want me to truely disappear morris , you have to move on from them . Accept after all these years that you won’t ever play with them again , you won’t ever record together , you won’t ever hear their voice anywhere except from old recordings ."

" For my final words to you , morris ." A abrupt pause, as if it was letting Collin process his emotions . "The greatest act of love , is letting them go. not out of selfishness, not out of anger, not out of fear, holding onto them meant losting ourselves ."

" farewell , Collin morris ."
It said, a droplet landing on their face as Collin looked up, his breath shallow. a downpour of realisation crossing his face and mind.
