Three Cats

Summary:

Courtney is warm and sleepy

Notes:

Did I write this on my heating pad? Yes, yes I did

Also please God don't read this Smosh. This is purely poorly written fiction based on real people. Nothing I write is a fact, it's just based off their Internet personas

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Courtney lays curled up with their heating pad.

What started as them using it to lessen their cramps had turned into them dropping. The warmth making them sleepy, and being sleepy making them small.

Shayne walks into their bedroom to check on them and finds them gently chewing on their stuffed lobster’s claw with their eyes closed.

“I had a feeling this is what I'd find.” He says teasingly, running a hand through their hair.

They push their head into his hand and he chuckles, lightly scratching their head.

“Are you a little kitty cat today?” he coos, petting their back as he gently pulls the toy out of their mouth.

Like kids their age, little Courtney loved to play pretend. And when they were warm and cozy like this, they loved pretending to be a cat.

Which wasn’t much different than the average sleepy, little Courtney.

But if that was what Courtney wanted to play, Shayne would always indulge them.

Courtney hums, bumping their head against his hand to pull his attention back there.

He chuckles, going back to scratching their head. “Are you all warm and cozy?” he coos, reaching over to check the heating pad.

“Do you want your blanket instead?” he asks, gently rubbing their tummy.

They make a sound similar to purring and he smiles softly at them.

“Papa’s gonna grab your heated blanket,” he murmurs, “Do you wanna stay under here or come with me?”

Courtney cracks their eyes open, pushing up to their knees with their arms in front of them to stretch, and bump his arm with their head as they come back up.

He laughs, picking them up and cradling them like he would their cats, walking downstairs to grab the heated blanket from the closet.

Shayne grabs the blanket and walks back upstairs, plugging it in before laying on the bed. He places Courtney next to him to let them decide where they wanna lay down.

They immediately climb onto his chest, curling up as best they can as they rest their head over his heart.

He lays the blanket over them and they make a small sound of contentment as the warmth surrounds them.

Courtney rubs their face against him and he laughs, reaching over to pet them gently, occasionally scratching their head.

They make a sound similar to purring before blinking their eyes shut, blindly reaching for the collar of Shayne’s shirt. They grab it with one hand, clenching and unclenching their fists slowly as they get warmer, cozier, and sleepier.

It doesn’t take long for Bones and Birdie to discover the scene, Bones flopping himself onto the arm Shayne has at his side, tucking himself under the blanket, while Birdie curls up at the end of the blanket away from everyone.

“I really do just have three cats.” Shayne jokes and Courtney giggles.

“A cat that can giggle!” he says with faux incredulousness, “Must be a witch!”

They giggle again, cracking their eyes open, “Not real cat, papa,” they remind him, and he pretends to slap his forehead.

“How could I forget,” he mutters jokingly, “Two of you look like cats, and one of you looks like a human. I should have been able to tell.”

“Silly,” they mumble, letting their eyes flutter shut, making a happy sound when he starts playing with their hair again.

“Papa is a silly guy,” he agrees, closing his own eyes as the warmth makes him sleepy as well

“A silly, lucky guy”
