    When Grian opened his eyes, a wave of intense pain and confusion instantly overwhelmed him, giving him a splitting headache. He didn't know where he was. His back ached from the heavy fall. His wings were also slightly torn from the earlier struggle. He raised his hand to touch his neck, where the marks of being grabbed still lingered. Dazzling sunlight streamed in through a small window, making it difficult for him to keep his eyes open.

    He was lying on a bed that felt both strange and familiar. The room was small, old, and dirty. The air was filled with a mixture of Doritos and sweat. As his eyes gradually adjusted to the light, he fully realized where he was. This room, this smell, this feeling…

    They were all both familiar and distant. Grian sat on the edge of the bed and glanced at a uniform lying on the floor. A white shirt with a light brown button-up jacket over it. His body instantly froze.
